Will Nathan Fillion be Nova in Guardians of the Galaxy?

Basically, the answer is No. For quite a while now, there had been reports that Nathan Fillion will have a role in the upcoming Marvel sci-fi adventure "Guardians of the Galaxy" and most of the geek community is rooting for him to play the superhero Nova or Nova Prime. Well they just have to rest that idea, and be happy enough with the idea with him being on the movie for a "fun" cameo.

James Gunn himself, who worked with Fillion on Slither, Super, and PG-Porn, confirmed the debunk, via twitter, stating:
"The rumors of my pal Nathan Fillion playing Nova in "Guardians of the Galaxy" have been greatly (and entirely) exaggerated. Sorry, humans." he continues "He (Fillion) has a very small fun cameo he did as a favor to me."
Guardians of the Galaxy opens in Philippine cinemas July 30, 2014.

Sam Raimi developing and possibly direct Afghanistan War movie The Outpost

Inasmuch as we still grieve the fact that Sam Raimi is not in control of the Spider-man movies anymore, and that we still wish for him to make a new Evil Dead movie, once in a while Raimi has got to spread his wings outside of genre films. That's why it's a rather nice to hear news that Raimi will produce and supervise development of an adaptation of Jake Tapper’s book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor with an eye towards possibly directing.  The nonfiction book chronicles the 2009 battle in Afghanistan, 14 miles from the Pakistani border, where 53 Americans were overrun by 400 Taliban fighters.  The conflict resulted in two Medal of Honor recipients, marking the first time the award has been given to two living soldiers for the same battle since 1968. Raimi will produce with Rob Tapert, and Paul Merryman will be co-producer. [hit the jump to continue]

Live-Action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Movie Being Developed; Bill Condon as Director

This looks like a project that has been waiting for a go-signal, and now that Maleficent is a big success, Disney is moving on to work on another fairy tale re-imagining, with a live-action Beauty and the Beast movie. Bill Condon (director of "Gods and Monsters", "Chicago", "Dreamgirls", and "Twilight: Breaking Dawn 1 & 2") will helm the flick. Few details are available on the tone or plot of the script at the moment, or whether or not the film will even feature musical numbers. Condon may have directed the 2 last Twilight movies, but his reputation cannot be easily underestimated just like that, because his other works, like "Gods and Monsters" and "Dreamgirls" are high caliber, Academy Award movies. Condon has that potential to mix a really great cinematic experience and the kind of romance that will get the teenagers running to the theaters. The film is in development stage; no production start or release date has been set as of yet.

"Noah" finally gets its Philippine release date; "Transformers: Age of Extinction" Philippine release also announced

After being delayed due to legal problems concerning with the operation of United International Pictures Philippines, "Noah" finally gets a Philippine release date. "Noah" will finally dock in the Philippines June 11, 2014. "Transformers: Age of Extinction" also gets its Philippine release date set on June 25, 2014, just in time with its Southeast Asian release on the same date. (It will open in U.S. cinemas June 27). Last march we reported that United International Pictures Philippines had been suspended from distributing their films after it allegedly violated an agreement with Solar Entertainment Corp., its local partner in the release of the movies. Solar claimed that UIP violated its 2012 agreement when it named Columbia Pictures as its new film distributor in the Philippines. That put "Noah"'s Philippine release to a grueling delay (it was released internationally last March), and also put the release date of the new Transformers movie in peril.

But the official facebook page of Columbia Pictures Philippines has now hit the news feeds with the two movies' release dates; "Noah" which seems to grab on to a Independence Day holiday week, to cash on to its box office potential, and Transformers 4 catching up to what its original release date was scheduled to be.
