Argentine Ambassador Graces the Cinematheque

The FDCP Cinematheque Iloilo has been having their Argentine Crime Films Festival this week, and last Wednesday October 19, 2016 was the festival's reception night which was graced by Ambassador Roberto Bosch, Ambassador of Argentina to the Philippines. The cocktails was followed by the screening of the film "The Secret in their Eyes".

Films of TM Malones Screened in Miag-ao

Last week, Armslength Productions, a university-based organization, hosted a special-screening of films by the respected Ilonggo Filmmaker T.M. Malones of Dark Media Creations "Sin-o ang Tiktik" and FDCP-produced "Salvi: Ang Pagpadayon" at Sulu Garden Miagao.

The World Premieres Film Festival at the Cinematheque this Week

The World Premieres Film Festival continues this week at the FDCP Cinematheque with a handful of wonderful films from around the world, namely; Chicas Paranoicas, Candlestick, Open Wound, Filosofi Kopi, and the WPFF 2015 Short Films, and on Saturday, the five-and-a-half-hour Lav Diaz film "Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon" gets a screening. The Filmed Don Quixote at the FDCP Cinematheque

This week at the FDCP Cinematheque Iloilo, in honor of the famed author, Miguel de Cervantes who penned Don Quixote, Instituto Cervantes de Manila, the Embassy of Spain, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) have organized a special cycle of films inspired by Cervantes’s life and writings, entitled “The Filmed Don Quixote.” This includes the films: "Las Gallinas de Cervantes" by Alfredo Castellon,  "El Caballero Don Quijote" by Manuel Gutierrez Aragon, and "Don Quijote de la Mancha" by Rafael Gil. Daisy Ridley is The Lost Wife

After "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actress Daisy Ridley suddenly gained instant popularity. Now, Ridley is attached to lead "The Lost Wife", a drama set during the early days of World War II. Screenwriter Marc Klein (Serendipity) penned the adaptation, which is based on the novel of the same name by Alyson Richman. Producers Michelle Chydzik and Jeff Waxman are currently meeting with directors for this top-priority picture. Though no studio is currently attached, the plan is to shop the picture at Cannes. Bryan Cranston is The Infiltrator

Multi-awarded actor Bryan Cranston, whose popularity is still fresh off his Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in "Trumbo" and is widely known for his lead role in the TV series "Breaking Bad" is returning to the drug scene in "The Infiltrator" wherein he plays an undercover federal agent. The film is directed by Brad Furman and written by Ellen Brown Furman, based on the autobiography of the same name by Robert Mazur, a federal customs and excise agent. Mazur helps bust Pablo Escobar's money-laundering organization by using his alias, "Bob Musella". The film also stars Diane Kruger, Benjamin Bratt, John Leguizamo, and Amy Ryan. Wonder Woman Movie Revealed in New Photos

Warner Bros has released a brand new still from the upcoming Wonder Woman solo film. In a move that some think is both an attempt to capitalize on her current popularity, and potentially to distract fans from the critical bashing that BvS is taking, the studio released the image through Entertainment Weekly- which they own. Bambanti Screens at the FDCP Cinematheque

This week, the FDCP Cinematheque screens the Brillante Mendoza produced, Zig M. Dulay written and directed film "Bambanti" which stars Alessandra de Rossi, Shamaine Buencamino, Micko Laurente, and Julio Diaz. It recently won the Best Indie Movie, Indie Director, Production Design, Child Performer, and Original Theme Song at the PMPC Star Awards, it also won the Best Film Award at the Brussels Film Festival, and its lead child star Micko Laurente the Best Actor at the International Children's Film Festival in India last November.
