Ben Affleck Writing (And Possibly Directing) A Stand-Alone Batman Movie

Ben Affleck may be set to direct his own stand-alone Batman movie. And he has recently finished a script for it. The only redeeming factor of the movie is that it showed everybody that Ben Affleck is able to portray Batman in an awesome manner that really makes the role perfect for him. Affleck is an Academy Award Winning Writer and is himself a great director with films such as "Gone Baby Gone", "The Town", and "Argo". And all this is why we should be excited for this news. [hit the jump to continue]

Patrick Whitesell, co-CEO of the William Morris Endeavors (via The Hollywood Reporter) said the following regarding Affleck's involvement in the DCEU: "There's a script that he's written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that's out there as an option." This isn't the first time we've heard of Affleck's involvement in a standalone Batman film. When last we heard, he stated that he and Geoff Johns were "working together on something," but he's all but denied any agreements to direct (though he's never been opposed to the idea). Obviously, that project Affleck mentioned could be something completely different, but if this statement from Whitesell is true, it seems more likely that it's Batman-related.

Last week, when "Batman V Superman" was released, the film drew massive backlash from critics that tore the film apart. To the point that there was a youtube video interview clip wherein Ben Affleck, alongside Henry Cavill, was seen having a really sad reaction to the discussion about the negative reviews on Batman V Superman. (search "Sad Affleck" on youtube). Of course we dont know what is actually racing through the mind of Affleck, but we could just assume that he's experiencing the trauma he got from the negative backlash he had when he took on the title role in 2003's "Daredevil" movie. He looked like a man who's thinking "Not THIS again!" or perhaps he's a guy who cant wait to redeem himself through his own movie. Let's hope Affleck returns with a vengeance on his own Batman movie.
