John Wick: Chapter Two Synopsis Revealed

Summit Entertainment has recently unveiled the official synopsis for "John Wick: Chapter 2" which states: “Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers." [hit the jump to continue]

The first one simply titled "John Wick" which came out in 2014 was one of those unexpected action hits that really blew everybody away. The film was actually made by stunt men for one of the world’s most recognizable action stars, may have had a pretty simple story but pretty much straightforward. The first film was an instant cult sensation thanks to its propulsive, break-neck action set-pieces and a delighful undertone of world-building that set the flick apart from your standard revenge fare.

Hitman retires, brash child of a mob boss wrongs the hitman, Hitman comes out of retirement, kills everyone. Only in this movie, the young mob kid killed the hitman’s puppy. HIS F*****G PUPPY. ANYWAY, the movie was unbelievably amazing, and almost everyone who saw it raved about it. So of course there was going to be a sequel.

David Leitch and Chad Stahelski co-directed the first film, but Leitch is working on "The Coldest City" with Charlize Theron and James McAvoy, so it’s up to Stakelski to man the helm solo. John Wick screenwriter Derek Kolstad is also set to return.

Chapter Two brings in a slew of new characters, which makes sense since a whole lot of people got shot in the head the first time around, and reunites Reeves with his The Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne. Reeves revealed that Fishburne takes on the role of “The Bowery King”, certainly a formidable sounding title, though it remains unclear if the King will incur John Wick’s wrath or help him exact it. In addition to Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Peter Stormare, and Common round out the cast with returning cast members Bridget Moynahan and Ian McShane. John Wick 2 is set to hit international theaters on February 10, 2017.
