Farewell, Jim Kelly

Actor Jim Kelly, who played a glib American martial artist in “Enter the Dragon” with Bruce Lee, has died. He was 67. Marilyn Dishman, Kelly’s ex-wife, said he died Saturday of cancer at his home in California.

Sporting an Afro hairstyle and sideburns, Kelly made a splash with his one-liners and fight scenes in the 1973 martial arts classic. His later films included “Three the Hard Way,” ”Black Belt Jones” and “Black Samurai.”

The New Terminator Movie will be a Reboot

A while back, we reported that Schwarzenegger was going back to the Terminator franchise, that means a new movie is coming. Now, Paramount, Annapurna Pictures, and Skydance Productions have partnered for this project and have officially announced that the new Terminator movie will be a reboot that will launch the series anew, to be released by Paramount Pictures on June 26, 2015. If you ask me, a reboot does make sense; the Terminator series is a terribly flawed franchise (the whole time-travel scenario is messy and inconsistent), and does need a good re-organization and re-structuring of its entire story arc. The Philippine release date for BEFORE MIDNIGHT has been moved to July 10, 2013. The film was originally set for a July 3 release date [check out this prominent press release which announces that]. But it looks like the slot for the date has been filling up with too many big name movies simultaneously piling up. [check out our previous report on the release date]

Knight Rider movie being developed

KNIGHT RIDER was one of the most popular TV series of the 80's, it was the show that made David Hasselhoff a household name. Now a movie adaptation of this show is being developed, and (Wild Hogs) screenwriter Brad Copeland has already been hired, indicating that this project is ineed moving along. The Weinstein Company, which owns the feature rights to the property, is aiming for a more high-octane, action-oriented adaptation, to catch up on the hype and the popularity of movies like the Fast & Furious movies. There are talks that David Hasselhoff, star of the original series, will be involved with the new version in one way or another, on the other hand, there is no word on whether Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) will return to voice the role of K.I.T.T., the extremely advanced and indestructible vehicle that was featured in the 80s original.
