Deadpool shoots in March; set for release February 2016

Many of you already know that the Deadpool movie is finally happening. And now, things as moving forward as Deadpool is set to start filming in Vancouver in late March. Visual effects veteran Tim Miller is still onboard to direct the Deadpool movie with a release date set for February 12, 2016.

Gambit, Bourne, Assassin's Creed, Apes announce Official Release Dates

Fox has recently unveiled release dates for a couple of their upcoming projects. On the spotlight are: The X-Men spin-off film "Gambit" which is set on October 7, 2016; "Assassin's Creed" on December 21, 2016; and the untitled Planet of the Apes Sequel which is set on July 14, 2017. "Noah" finally gets its Philippine release date; "Transformers: Age of Extinction" Philippine release also announced

After being delayed due to legal problems concerning with the operation of United International Pictures Philippines, "Noah" finally gets a Philippine release date. "Noah" will finally dock in the Philippines June 11, 2014. "Transformers: Age of Extinction" also gets its Philippine release date set on June 25, 2014, just in time with its Southeast Asian release on the same date. (It will open in U.S. cinemas June 27). Last march we reported that United International Pictures Philippines had been suspended from distributing their films after it allegedly violated an agreement with Solar Entertainment Corp., its local partner in the release of the movies. Solar claimed that UIP violated its 2012 agreement when it named Columbia Pictures as its new film distributor in the Philippines. That put "Noah"'s Philippine release to a grueling delay (it was released internationally last March), and also put the release date of the new Transformers movie in peril.

But the official facebook page of Columbia Pictures Philippines has now hit the news feeds with the two movies' release dates; "Noah" which seems to grab on to a Independence Day holiday week, to cash on to its box office potential, and Transformers 4 catching up to what its original release date was scheduled to be.

Schedules of Highly-Anticipated Movies for the First 4 Months of 2014 [updated]

There's a lot of movies to watch out for this 2014. Strictly speaking, the movie year begins with the second week of the MMFF movies, but for many of us, the movie year officially begins after it. We have here the Philippine release dates for the most-anticipated movies of the first four months of 2014. Before the regular change-picture day comes. Three big movies come out January 8; 47 Ronin, The Legend of Hercules, and Lone Survivor. On the other hand, Philippine release dates for other anticipated movies have not yet been released as of writing time. These movies include: Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (which comes out January in the US), Pompeii (set for February in the US), Need for Speed, Divergent, Raid 2: Berandal, Noah, and the Veronica Mars movie (all set for March in the US), Sabotage (set for April in the US), and Maleficent (set for May in the US). ELYSIUM Philippine Release Moved to September 4

The upcoming Neill Blomkamp movie ELYSIUM which stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster was originally, widely advertised for several months now, scheduled to have its Philippine release on August 9, 2013. Earlier this week, we noticed that the ads which had the schedule of the movie were removed from various websites such as clickthecity. Last Tuesday, Columbia Pictures Philippines has released a press statement announcing that ELYSIUM is now scheduled for a September 4 Philippine release date. No additional explainations have been provided. THIS IS NOT THE END Screening Postponed at the Last Minute

THIS IS NOT THE END INDEED!
It looks like another case of a movie being re-scheduled at the very last minute, causing everybody who's planning to watch the movie get blueballs. The movie THIS IS THE END was initially originally scheduled for a July 17 release here in the Philippines. But then it was later re-scheduled to July 31. Now, we all got surprised to find the movie NOT opening anywhere in the Philippines this week. Word spread that the film was re-scheduled to September 11. [hit the jump to continue]

Before Midnight moved a week later

The Philippine release date for BEFORE MIDNIGHT has been moved to July 10, 2013. The film was originally set for a July 3 release date [check out this prominent press release which announces that]. But it looks like the slot for the date has been filling up with too many big name movies simultaneously piling up. If there is one lesson we should learn from the Kick-Ass 2 re-sked [check that news HERE], it's that local release dates are indeed subject to change as late as days before the scheduled date. Before Midnight Philippine Release Date Announced

BEFORE MIDNIGHT gets a Philippine release date. The Richard Linklater film will be set to hit the Philippines on July 3, 2013.[UPDATE: Before Midnight has been moved to July 10. [Check the update HERE]

This movie is the sequel to Before Sunrise (1995) and Before Sunset (2004), that features Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in what is an unusually intelligent love story that focuses more on the mature interaction between its two main characters rather than the usual drama and over-sentimentalities of the usual romantic movie.

Before Midnight premiered on January 20, 2013, at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. It was then scheduled to have its international premiere out of competition at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. The film is set for wide release in the US on June 14, 2013.

Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke were recently interviewed by ABS-CBN, and teased the possibility of a fourth movie being set in the Philippines [read full story of that report HERE]. But no formal announcements of a fourth movie were made just yet.

Release Dates Moved for 300: Rise of an Empire and All You Need Is Kill

300: Rise of an Empire doesnt look like its getting some excitement buzz, perhaps that is why Warner Bros. is moving its release schedule to March 7, 2014. Meanwhile, "All You Need Is Kill" will also be moved to June 6, 2014. [read full article after the jump]

Updated: Evil Dead will Not be Shown in Iloilo at all

I just received TERRIBLE news about this movie. EVIL DEAD will not be shown in Robinson's Movieworld. The previous news for this says that it will not be shown in SM Cinema as well because of their R-18 policy. Columbia Pictures Philippines has stated that the screening of this movie will only be for Ayala Cinemas, and so because there's no Ayala Cinema in Iloilo.... Basically, EVIL DEAD will not be shown in Iloilo at all. Wow. This does really encourage us all to resort to torrents, doesn't it? [READ THE FULL ARTICLE]

The Expendables 2 opens this week

The highly-anticipated sequel to the 2010 action ensemble; THE EXPENDABLES 2 opens this THURSDAY -August 16, 2012 - in Philippine cinemas (that includes Iloilo, of course). The film will open in US theaters 2 days later (if you count the time zone difference), August 17, 2012. This time, the movie is directed by Simon West (Con Air, The Mechanic) and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth; Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in supposed larger, more action-packed roles; and will be joined by Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris. EXPENDABLES 2 will also be released in Europe this Thursday. Don't forget to visit the site first thing in the morning of Thursday to check out the screening skeds of EXPENDABLES 2 in Iloilo theaters.

Colorado Tragedy causes The Gangster Squad to do re-shoots and re-schedules

Because of the recent Colorado massacre, Warner Brothers has decided to pull out the trailer for their upcoming movie GANGSTER SQUAD, because it has a scene in that movie wherein gun men pose themselves inside a movie theater, behind the movie screen and starts shooting at the audience inside the movie theater. A trailer is nothing, the problem is that the studio is planning to remove that same entire scene itself from the movie, and will probably be going back to doing re-shoots for the film. Of course, this means that the release of the film will inevitably be moved to another date. The studio is now looking at a January 11th 2013 release date.

GI JOE 2 release moves to March 2013

Bad news to those looking forward to the movie GI JOE: RETALIATION.
This movie which is originally set for a June 29, 2012 release has now been moved to March 29, 2013! Just 3 months short of an entire year! The reason for this, as a Paramount exec says:

“We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally,”

The studio exec also noted that the blockbuster performance of The Hunger Games shows that March can be a prime time of the year to release movies. That's bullshit. Uhhhh but THAT'S THE Hunger Games, and it has a huge number of fans and followers, the book's popularity is currently on its peak; Any Hunger Games movie would be successful anytime of the year.
