Devlin and Emmerich will reimagine, reboot, and relaunch STARGATE

When STARGATE was released back in the late 90's it was something that we were in awe for, and instantly loved it (with many arguing that the movie-going world terribly missed Star Wars during that time), and it spawned a couple of spin-offs from animated series, direct-toDVD sequels, and the TV series Stargate SG-1 which served as a sequel to the movie . Now, its creators Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich venture out to into the Stargate and launch, not only a new movie, but a Stargate trilogy! [hit the jump to continue]

Will Smith will NOT be on Independence Day 2

Roland Emmerich is certainly going to have to use the version of the Independence Day 2 script that doesn’t include Will Smith, because the star has reportedly decided not to appear in the Independence Day sequel.  The “Will He? Won’t He?” game has been played for a number of years now, and even though a new report states that Smith has decided against starring in the sequel, nothing has been officially confirmed. Until Now.

Independence Day 2 will indeed continue with or without Smith.  Emmerich and writing partner Dean Devlin turned two versions of their script over to screenwriter James Vanderbilt: one centering on Smith’s hero character Steven Hiller, and one without him entirely.  Apparently Smith hasn’t broken the final news to Emmerich just yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we hear more.

Independence day Sequels being developed

Roland Emmerich must have ran out of ideas for disaster movies that he's going back to one of the movies that had first generated his career. Emmerich is planning a sequel for his 1996 alien invasion movie: INDEPENDENCE DAY. Not just one, but two sequels. And the title of these sequels will be... Independence Day to be re-released in 3-D; sequels being developed

Next year, we will once again get to see really large alien motherships emerging from the clouds as the 1996 movie INDEPENDENCE DAY will be rereleased in 3D. INDEPENDENCE DAY 3-D, which is set for a July 4, 2013 release date, seems to generate interest on this alien invasion movie once again, and will probably be a device to gauge interest for a sequel that is being developed by its creators Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin.

Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin confirmed that they are committed to finally get Independence Day 2 off the ground. Fox was planning back-to-back sequels with or without Will Smith’s involvement, and now producer Dean Devlin has announced that he and Emmerich are actively working on Independence Day 2.  Moreover, they’re also hoping to continue and ultimately finish the intended trilogy they began with the 1994 sci-fi film Stargate with two new sequels.
