Guillermo Del Toro Teases Tiny Details About Pacific Rim 2
It's not really a surprise that Pacific Rim would get a sequel. It is, after all, one of 2013's biggest sci-fi action movies. The visionary director of this monster hit, Guillermo Del Toro will be going in a very different direction with Pacific Rim 2. The sequel picks up a few years after the events of the first. The story will begin in a Kaiju-free world, and this will indeed create a restart scenario when the horror re-emerges. There will be a lot of new Kaiju in Pacific Rim 2, according to Del Toro, and of course, the Jaegers will indeed rise to fight the threat once again. Some favorite characters from the first film, like Geiszler played by Charlie Day and Gottlieb played by Burn Gorman, will return. But others wont re-emerge till at the end of Pacific Rim 2 in an effort to heat things up for a third film. [hit the jump to continue]

Top Gun Sequel Being Developed
After several decades, it looks like the popular 80's iconic pop movie "Top Gun" will indeed be having a sequel after all. The project is still under a long overdue development phase, but sources say that "Top Gun 2" will have a a storyline that highlights the relevance of old fashioned pilots in a war environment loaded with high-tech drones. Tom Cruise will return as Maverick, perhaps we can expect the rest of the other cast to catch up to the project if it nears the greenlight. [hit the jump to continue]

The Conjuring Spin-off "Annabelle" set for October
Many of us might have thought that that freaky doll from all of the posters for the horror masterpiece "The Conjuring" is the main monster of the movie. Well, now that idea is coming true with a spin-off horror movie featuring that doll, entitled "Annabelle". The film is directed by John R. Leonetti (who served as a DP on The Conjuring and should be able to recreate that film’s style) and written by Gary Dauberman (the upcoming Crawlspace from the same studios). James Wan is producing alongside Peter Safran. The film stars the somewhat ironically named Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), Ward Horton, and Alfre Woodard. "Annabelle" is set for official international release this October 3, 2014. No specific release date for the Philippines has been named yet.
"Annabelle" is a stand-alone film that will be set in the same universe as "The Conjuring" but it is not the official sequel. "The Conjuring 2" will be a separate movie, and is set for release October 23, 2015.

Predator Returns with Shane Black at its helm
The Predator will return in a new movie to be helmed by the great Shane Black, director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3, and is the screenwriter of such classics as Lethal Weapon, Monster Squad, and The Last Boy Scout. Early reports state that the movie would be a reboot, but it was later clarified that that was not the case, and it would be a sequel. Why fix something that's not broken, right? Monster Squad co-writer and director Fred Dekker would be penning the script for this Predator sequel. [hit the jump to continue]

Godzilla Sequel now being planned
GODZILLA just had his big, big monster success at the box office. And of course in Hollywood, that translates into having to prepare for a sequel. And yes, it's now been confirmed that a sequel for Godzilla will be made. Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are moving forward with a sequel, although there are currently no details about the plot. They played their cards right in making this new Godzilla movie. And although the film may not necessarily be a critic-stamped "great movie" it was awesome enough to appeal to the larger demographic of people who just want to watch a big, thrilling monster movie. Now, we wonder what kind of monster will he be facing next. Let's just wait till the early tremors of his return...

Will there be a FROZEN 2?
There's no denying the pop phenomenon the Walt Disney animated movie FROZEN has created. It’s currently the top selling Blu-ray and soundtrack on Amazon. It's also recently been re-released in some theaters. Plus, there's that popular song that makes the movie itself a pop sensation. If we consider the commercial behavior of Hollywood nowadays of "striking the iron while it's hot" ...it's a sure thing that making a sequel is obviously on Disney's calendar. But that doesn’t mean that it's happening tomorrow. Disney has no reason to rush when the original is still riding high. In an interview with Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn, he said that one of the other reasons why is that Disney is, instead, primarily focusing on the Frozen musical. Disney loves bringing their animated features to the stage, and a Frozen stage musical is a license to print money. [hit the jump to continue]

"Sinister 2" Names Director
SINISTER was one of the best horror movies of 2012, and it very much makes sense that a sequel will be made, and a director has now been chosen for Sinister 2. Citadel director Ciaran Foy will be taking the helm, as announced (via his Twitter) by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) who co-wrote and directed the first film, and will remain onboard as a producer of the sequel alongside Jason Blum, who also produced the first film through his lucrative low-budget-high-profit model via Blumhouse Productions (the studio behind Paranormal Activity, The Purge, etc.). Derrickson will return to co-write the sequel with Sinister co-writer C. Robert Cargill. Foy made his feature directorial debut with the 2012 Irish horror film Citadel, so Sinister 2 marks his most high profile feature to date.
The first "Sinister" revolves around a true crime writer (Ethan Hawke) who moves his family into the home where a family was previously murdered, only to stumble across Super 8 footage depicting the murders of said family and numerous others. [hit the jump to continue]

Liam Neeson will return in Taken 3, with Forest Whitaker
Even though Taken 2 was a step down from Taken in terms of quality, it blew past the original when it came to the box office by raking in $376 million worldwide. Naturally, the saga of Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) dealing with kidnappings must continue, and Deadline is reporting that Taken 2 director Olivier Megaton will return to helm Taken 3. Maggie Grace will also come back, and once again, Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen are handling the script, which will likely involve Neesons beating the shit out of people.
Forest Whitaker is reported to be in talks to join Neeson and Grace in the upcoming sequel. No word yet on whether or not Whitaker will A) be kidnapped; B) the kidnapper; C) have a very special set of skills; D) Find a better way to determine distance than by tossing grenades into a highly populated city.

Pitch Perfect Sequel is a Go... With Elizabeth Banks Directing
The Pitch Perfect sequel is forging ahead, albeit with a different director at its helm. Elizabeth Banks, who conceived of the idea for the first film in addition to producing and co-starring in it, will make her feature directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2, replacing the first film’s director Jason Moore. THR reports that Banks will also return in an acting capacity for the Universal Pictures follow-up in addition to producing the pic, with Pitch Perfect stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson likely to return. Plot details for Pitch Perfect 2 are unknown at this time, but Kay Cannon will also be returning to write the script.
This is a big get for Banks and also excellent news in a world where too few films are directed by women. The very funny actress/producer has previously directed a few shorts, but Pitch Perfect 2 will be her first time taking the helm of a major feature film. The first pic was one of the most pleasant surprises of 2012, so here’s hoping the humor and chemistry holds over for the sequel. Bringing Kendrick and Wilson back onboard is an excellent—and crucial—start.
