Gambit will be penned by Robocop Scribe Josh Zetumer

20th Century Fox is officially moving forward with the Gambit movie.  Months ago, reports came in that Fox was developing an X-Men spinoff featuring the card-wielding mutant with Channing Tatum set to star, and now Fox has hired screenwriter Josh Zetumer to get to work on a script while Tatum is indeed officially attached to lead the feature.  But earlier, Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont apparently wrote the treatment for the Gambit movie, which will form the basis of the screenplay.

According to several sources, Fox has set screenwriter Josh Zetumer to pen the Gambit movie script based off of Claremont’s treatment.  Zetumer only has one produced feature under his belt, this year’s RoboCop remake, but apparently Fox thinks he’s the right man to tackle Gambit.  The storyline for the film is being kept under wraps, but the Gambit character has been a fan-favorite for sometime.  A native of New Orleans, Gambit aka Remy LeBeau has the power to control and manipulate kinetic energy, with a propensity for card throwing. Gambit movie to be made; Channing Tatum to play the title character

Gambit is one of the X-men characters that actually came in late in the franchise, as he was only introduced in the comics in the 90's. But he got popular pretty quick with the 90's kids. And ever since the first X-men movie, there had been a number of fans who were already crying for Gambit to make that silver screen appearance. Gambit is pretty big and it's really not a surprise to find out that a spin-off spotlight movie for Gambit movie is in development. And the rumors are now confirmed: Channing Tatum will play Gambit.

Earlier this year, there had already been several buzzes that a Channing Tatum - Gambit movie will be made, it's because X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner has been expressing her wishes to see Gambit on the silver screen with Channing Tatum to play the role.  She explained that she was “dying to do a Gambit movie” with Tatum, and it was just a matter of getting the studio on board.  A month ago, Tatum said he had met with Donner and would love to play the role because he’s a huge fan of the character.  However, there was still the question of whether or not it would all come together. Action Sequence and Character will be deleted from upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past"

X-Men: Days of Future Past is expected to be one mega-superhero-movie that will cross-over Bryan Singer's X-Men universe and its prequel universe from X-Men: First Class. And it is expected to be big and dense. With such a production, it would not be surprising that there would be more than enough scenes and even action sequences which will end up at the cutting floor. There is going to be one action sequence which will be deleted from the movie, and as an effect, one main character will have to be excluded from the movie. That character which we wont be seeing in the next X-Men movie is Rogue. Yes, Anna Paquin will not be included in the movie; but her scene will most probably be included in the deleted scenes from the blue-ray and dvd of the movie when it will come out. While the rest of the net was busy with either talking about the Wonder Woman casting and/or the trailers and teasers for the new Spider-man movie, director Bryan Singer has tweeted today that X-Men: Apocalypse would be coming, with a follow-up tweet from another account saying that the X-Men: Days of Future Past sequel would be opening on May 27, 2016. First Video Teaser for "X-Men: Days of Future Past" released

With Marvel just releasing the teaser for the second Captain America movie, now Bryan Singer and Fox has also released the first teaser video for the upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past". In the upcoming sequel/prequel, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) has his consciousness sent back to 1973 to help Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and the rest of the X-Men: First Class crew stop the rise of the Sentinels, giant robots programmed to exterminate mutants.  It's really nothing but a ten second glimpse of the movie, but I'm sure lots of geeks out there are getting wet with excitement over this. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is scheduled for release May 23, 2014. [hit the jump to check out the video]

Fox's X-Men and Fantastic Four are in the Same Movie Universe

Marvel's AVENGERS movie proved that nurturing a comicbook-based universe in movies results in potential franchise blockbuster success. While the DC movies have been making really sad attempts of launching their own Justice League franchise, 20th Century Fox seems to be making good decisions with their own X-Men universe, what with the established link between first three X-Men movies with X-Men First Class, and a planned X-Force movie. Now Fox's own superhero universe will be expanding with the other Marvel property which they own the rights to; The Fantastic Four. And Fox’s creative consultant Mark Millar has confirmed that, yes, Fox's X-Men universe is in the same universe as that with the Fantastic Four's. [hit the jump to continue]

X-Men Viral Photos and Video Reveal More Sentinels

The viral marketing for the highly anticipated X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST has begun with teasing Trask Industries photos, posters, and ads. In the X-Men universe, TRASK INDUSTRIES, which is founded by Bolivar Trask, developed the robot units known as the Sentinels which really are anti-mutant robots. These photos, which were tweeted by the film's producer-director Bryan Singer, reveals "history photos" of Sentinels being present during important and historic government events, and other photos depict company ads for Sentinels in the movie's universe. The viral video, on the other hand, is a commercial for Trask Industries (another slightly similar ad can be seen at the post-credits scene in the movie THE WOLVERINE. X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is set for a May 23, 2014 release.

The Wolverine review

THE WOLVERINE seeks to revitalize the comic book character Wolverine with a treatment designed to correct the wrongs of the previous movie, one that will render it "done right this time" And yes, it does accomplish that job.

Aside from the action, The Wolverine is more character-driven. People who expect the same kind of "fantastic fun" in other superhero movies may find the movie dragging, or even mediocre. Especially in the first half of the movie wherein which I loved the drama and the complex evolution of fates, following the journey of one man who is lost and feeling cursed by the pain of the past, and  has to live with it (eternally).

Is Fox planning an X-Force Movie?

20th Century Fox, in appraising the superhero movie landscape, may be embracing the concept that if other studios are going to go one superhero per movie in order to build a team, Fox has the power to introduce entire teams right off the bat.  The X-Men movies have continued to pile in more and more mutants, and now that it’s bursting at the seams with Bryan Singer‘s upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, the studio may be close to moving into the secondary teams.  One such team is X-FORCE, (originally) a team of younger, aggressive, and rebellious mutant kids who banded themselves as a paramilitary mutant team whose aspirations may be similar to the X-Men, but their means to achieving an end are completely different. If Fox plans to take on X-Force, the announcement may come at their Comic-Con panel this July. [full article after the jump]

The Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch Appearances in Avengers 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past

The Comicbook characters Pietro Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver, and Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, in the Marvel Comics Universe are members of the superhero team The Avengers. Now, the movie Avengers 2 is currently in active production (what with the start of Marvel's Phase 2 movies, beginning with Iron Man 3) and has included both superhero characters to make an appearance in that sequel. It just so happened that the upcoming movie X-Men: Days of Future Past will also have both characters make an appearance in that movie. Because aside from being Avengers, both comicbook characters are also mutants, and are the children of Magneto, one of the most important characters of the X-Men Universe.
