No More Rupert Wyatt for Gambit

For some unpleasant news, "Gambit" has lost it's director Rupert Wyatt. It's unfortunate that this film just can't seem to catch a break from the negative vibes. Earlier this year, it was reported that the film's main star had walked away from the project, prompting everyone to think that the movie would never happen. Channing Tatum has finalized deal with Gambit

This is kind of funny. A few days ago, several prominent movie websites have reported that Channing Tatum has left the Gambit movie. But what happened here is a case of bad media, passing on a message and having it be re-interpreted badly, so much so that it morphs the original info. One site reported that Tatum's deal with 20th Century Fox may be in danger, then all of a sudden another site reports him to have already left the project. Seems that all these bad news sources have jumped the gun. And just this weekend, a final confirmation has been made; Channing Tatum has already formally closed the deal and agreed that he will indeed become Gambit. [hit the jump to continue]

Rupert Wyatt will direct Gambit

We already know that 20th Century Fox's X-Men spin-off movie for "Gambit" has already locked on to Channing Tatum for the title role, now it is also finally getting its director, and it's going to be "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" director Rupert Wyatt. [hit the jump to continue]

Gambit, Bourne, Assassin's Creed, Apes announce Official Release Dates

Fox has recently unveiled release dates for a couple of their upcoming projects. On the spotlight are: The X-Men spin-off film "Gambit" which is set on October 7, 2016; "Assassin's Creed" on December 21, 2016; and the untitled Planet of the Apes Sequel which is set on July 14, 2017. Universal has also announced that the “Untitled Next Bourne Chapter” (kind of a mouthful there, Universal) will be released on July 29, 2016. [hit the jump to continue]

Gambit will be penned by Robocop Scribe Josh Zetumer

20th Century Fox is officially moving forward with the Gambit movie.  Months ago, reports came in that Fox was developing an X-Men spinoff featuring the card-wielding mutant with Channing Tatum set to star, and now Fox has hired screenwriter Josh Zetumer to get to work on a script while Tatum is indeed officially attached to lead the feature.  But earlier, Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont apparently wrote the treatment for the Gambit movie, which will form the basis of the screenplay. 

According to several sources, Fox has set screenwriter Josh Zetumer to pen the Gambit movie script based off of Claremont’s treatment.  Zetumer only has one produced feature under his belt, this year’s RoboCop remake, but apparently Fox thinks he’s the right man to tackle Gambit.  The storyline for the film is being kept under wraps, but the Gambit character has been a fan-favorite for sometime.  A native of New Orleans, Gambit aka Remy LeBeau has the power to control and manipulate kinetic energy, with a propensity for card throwing.
