Simon Kinberg hired for rewrites on FANTASTIC FOUR; Script Overhaul? or Adjustment for an X-Men Cross-over?

Aside from the X-Men franchise, Fox is also in the process of developing a Fantastic Four reboot. Josh Trank (who directed the awesome movie CHRONICLE) will be directing this new F4 movie with Jeremy Slater to pen the script and Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) doing a polish on the screenplay. It seems like the screenplay history of this movie just keeps getting more complicated, as various reports note that Michael Green and T.S. Nowlin have also worked on versions of the script at one time or another. And now, Fox has tapped X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg to do a “significant” rewrite on the project, in what might appear as an overhaul of the screenplay. [hit the jump to continue]

While others may see this as a negative sign for the project, we (here at Syowing) speculate and interpret this as a possible adjustment in the script so that it would serve to have some connection with Fox's own Marvel Universe, which has already been established by connecting the X-Men movies and a planned X-Force spin-off. In the comics, the Fantastic Four has had several cross-overs with the X-Men, and I would not be surprised if Fox would like to cash in on the same kind of movie cross-over technique which has proved very effective for the Marvel Studios Movies.

Although Michael B. Jordan, Allison Williams, and Miles Teller have all been rumored to be attached with this project, no confirmations have been made yet. The project should be pacing itself faster by now, since this movie has already set a March 6, 2015 release date.
