Gambit, Bourne, Assassin's Creed, Apes announce Official Release Dates

Fox has recently unveiled release dates for a couple of their upcoming projects. On the spotlight are: The X-Men spin-off film "Gambit" which is set on October 7, 2016; "Assassin's Creed" on December 21, 2016; and the untitled Planet of the Apes Sequel which is set on July 14, 2017. Universal has also announced that the “Untitled Next Bourne Chapter” (kind of a mouthful there, Universal) will be released on July 29, 2016. [hit the jump to continue]

Here's the list of newly announced releases:

July 29, 2016 – Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates
July 29, 2016 – Untitled Bourne Movie
October 7, 2016 – Gambit
December 21, 2016 - Assassin’s Creed
December 25, 2016 – The Greatest Showman on Earth
February 10, 2017 - The Mountain Between Us
June 2, 2017 – Fantastic Four 2
July 14, 2017 – Untitled Planet of the Apes Sequel

It's just a shame that 20th Century Fox is willing to push aside their finest film franchise, in both fields: box office, and critics, for two films that are fueled solely on targeting a large teen/pre-teen demographic (or as what we might call "the twilight demographic"). The Gambit alone is a combination of the X-Men element and superstar Channing Tatum, while "Assassin's Creed" is big among the teen/pre-teen demographic which are feverish on video games. But then again, for the past decade Fox has notoriously been known for making decisions that tarnish them as a studio that focuses more on reckless pursuits for profit, rather than putting faith on some projects that could make history. But to look on the brighter side, at least the apes sequel might need some time and some breathing space before the next movie.

What is more surprising and funny is that the sequel to the upcoming Fantastic Four has already been set earlier than originally sked (from July 14, 2017 to June 2nd, 2017). We dont even know if the upcoming movie is going to be any good, and it has still yet to break the really low expectations it's getting, what with all the displeasing news around it [check out everything about the upcoming fantastic four here].

As for Bourne, we really did not need to push for another Jason Bourne movie, not unless he dies in this one. That's just my opinion, at least. But then again, let's just be happy that it's back in Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon's hands.

As for the other movies, "Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates" is a comedy with no announced cast as of yet and set to be directed by Jake Szymanski, which will premiere theatrically July 29th, 2016, Hugh Jackman‘s P.T. Barnum biopic, "The Greatest Showman on Earth" will hit theaters Christmas Day 2016, and the romantic drama "The Mountain Between Us", which stars Charlie Hunnam and Rosamund Pike and is set for theatrical release February 10th, 2017.
