Vin Diesel is Kojak

News is out that "Fast & Furious" actor Vin Diesel is developing a film adaptation based on the 1970's cop show, "Kojak", being set up as starring vehicle for Diesel. Universal Pictures has hired screenwriter Philip Gawthorne to write the screenplay. Gawthorne had recently signed on to pen a remake of the sci-fi thriller "Cube" for Lionsgate.

The original "Kojak" starred actor Telly Savales as Detective Theo Kojak who worked out of the New York Police Department bringing criminals and drug dealers to justice. [hit the jump to continue]

The speculation for a Vin Diesel-starred "Kojak" movie has been around since around ten years ago. Diesel has been enthusiastic to getting into this role for a long time, and so do fans. And now, it's great that we're going to get it.
