Apes Saga to Continue with Third Movie; set for July 29, 2016

The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens this week, but before it did, the movie has already had generated much positive buzz from critics and film analysts alike. And eventually, it's pretty much inevitable; the studios have announced that this "apes saga" shall continue with a third movie with a target release date set to July 29, 2016. Dawn of the Apes' Matt Reeves will be returning to direct and co-write along with screenwriter Mark Bomback. [hit the jump to continue]

In 2011, the movie "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was made to reboot the Planet of the Apes franchise. It proved to be far more marvelous than expected, and obviously worthy of being continued with sequels as was intended and hoped for. This new ape saga continues with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. And as the producers and directors have noted, it is indeed a long road between these two movies to the point where (the original 1968) "Planet of the Apes" transpired chronologically.

Direction of the Third Movie
[contains SPOILERS for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes]
At the end of the movie, inevitable war has already begun between Apes and Man. We will probably see how this will transpire and how long (in terms of how many more sequels) will we see human civilization last, till their last survivor, and how the Ape civilization will truly rise. We thought we saw the last of Caesar, but we will probably see him spearheading the establishment of this Ape civilization. And as for the connection of this new ape saga to the original "Planet of the Apes" movie, it should, at the very least, probably be not less than 50 years away from the events that transpired between the creation of the Ape civilization to when Taylor (Charlton Heston's character) touches down back on Earth. This is because in the original movie, humans had gone back to primitive living, and the existence of intelligent humans had become something of a myth in the Ape culture. A big question for us audiences is; what will they do when they reach that point in the new saga's timeline? Will they be remaking the 1968 movie as well? Or will they adopt it as a connection? Time will tell...
