X-Men to face Apocalypse in 2016

While the rest of the net was busy with either talking about the Wonder Woman casting and/or the trailers and teasers for the new Spider-man movie, director Bryan Singer has tweeted today that X-Men: Apocalypse would be coming, with a follow-up tweet from another account saying that the X-Men: Days of Future Past sequel would be opening on May 27, 2016. No further elaboration on the issue followed, just the dropping of this news. But it is one big blast of a news coming from a simple tweet. [hit the jump to continue]

Here are the tweets in question:

No stopping the X-Men franchise. Fox’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will drop May 27, 2016.

APOCALYPSE is one of those major X-men villains in Marvel's X-universe. Apocalypse, whose real name is En Sabah Nur, is a mutant born 5000 years ago in Akkaba, and was abandoned as an infant due to his unnatural appearance (gray skin and blue lips). He champions an extreme philosophy of mutant supremacy and survival of the fittest, to Apocalypse, only the strong deserve to survive and anyone that shows weakness should be mercilessly destroyed. His main goal throughout the majority of his career was to plunge the world into a terrible genetic war in which mutants would ultimately rule the world - upon which he would watch as the mutants battled each other until only the strongest, most aggressive individuals survived. And in the Age of Apocalypse storyline, he did manage to succeed in creating this world where mutants became the ruling class.

What do you guys think? Will bringing Apocalypse to life be a good idea? Who, do you think, would be the perfect actor to play Apocalypse? hit the comments!
