Two-time Oscar nominee David Magee to Pen Screenplay for the Fourth Narnia film

Life of Pi writer David Magee has been tapped to adapt The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, which is being produced by The C.S. Lewis Co. and The Mark Gordon Co.

"I have always loved The Chronicles of Narnia, and I endlessly imagined myself finding my own passage into Narnia someday," Magee said. "All these years later, I'm getting to fulfill that wish just a little bit by writing the film adaptation of The Silver Chair and could not be more excited about it." [hit the jump to continue]

Mark Gordon and Douglas Gresham are producing alongside Vincent Sieber, who is the Los Angeles-based director of The C.S. Lewis Co. Michele Wolkoff and Sara Smith will oversee for The Mark Gordon Co. The first three Narnia films combined have grossed more than $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. Walden Media, which financed the first three films, is no longer involved with the franchise. The last film in the series, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, was released in 2010 and earned $416 million. The seven C.S. Lewis novels that make up the series have sold more 100 million copies worldwide, Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia began with the publication of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe in 1950.

Magee's critically acclaimed work includes his 2012 screen adaptation of Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi, which earned him an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay. He also was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on Finding Neverland.
