Avengers 2 Has A Title

The cat is finally out of the bag! AVENGERS 2 now has a title. And one that is most unexpected actually. The title has been revealed as... "The AVENGERS: AGE of ULTRON" Some of you who are "in the know" of the goings-on in the Marvel movies universe may have expected that part 2 will be all about Thanos and/or the Infinity Gauntlet... Well, you may or may not be wrong, because no story details have been revealed as of yet. For now, what we get is a title. [read the story details after the jump]

At the San Diego Comic Con, Collider (website) was there to witness (as did a whole lot of people) Marvel's revelation. Marvel President Kevin Feige is about to leave the stage in Hall H following the panels for Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy.  An amped up crowd is shouting “More!”  Feige returns, takes a seat, and says “There’s only one more person here.  He wanted to say, ‘Hi.’  Joss Whedon!”  Whedon takes the stage.  “Hi.  I know it’s time to go,” he says, “and I don’t have a lot to say, but I have something to add.”  We cut to a trailer of quotes from The Avengers over something metal being hammered.  The metal has a strange red glow.  The last quote we hear is what Nick Fury told Maria Hill about the group coming back together when they world will need them.  The camera then pulls out to reveal Ultron’s helmet.  We then get the title for the highly-anticipated sequel: The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

WHO IS ULTRON?
In the Marvel universe, Ultron is a criminally insane rogue sentient robot dedicated to conquest and the extermination of humanity. When he was initially created, Ultron was a structurally crude robot (a torso on tank treads with spindly arms), its human creator endowed it with consciousness, using a copy of his own brain patterns as the basis for the robot's programming; however, the robot inherited not only its creator's great intellect, but also his inherent mental instability, only without a human conscience. The robot developed an advanced intellect within moments of its activation, and an unexpected capacity for emotion; most notably, it was filled with irrational hatred for humanity. The lab wherein which he was created was closed down, but the robot, who now named himself ULTRON, rebuilt himself completely four times, making improvements and modifications each time. Rechristening himself Ultron-5, he now felt ready to make war on humanity.

Ultron remains one of the most popular villains in Avengers history, having been a menace that has spawned various storylines in the Marvel universe. In in particular is AGE OF ULTRON. In this storyline, Ultron, in his goal of destroying humankind, has launched a massive and abrupt attack on Earth, taking over the whole planet, killing thousands of innocents and dozens of heroes and villains who stood in his way. Only a few of them are still alive, in a secret refuge under Central Park, ready to reclaim freedom or die trying.

And so, we wonder; will Avengers 2 use the same storyline as in the comics? Of course not exactly. They will probably have it as a basis, then apply it to what has already been established in the Marvel movies canon.

Don't you Agree that something like This should be Saved for the Third Movie?
WHAT ABOUT THANOS?
The biggest question now is: What about Thanos? We may wonder if he will be a co-villain in the movie? I personally, seriously dont think so. No way does Thanos deserve to share the spotlight with somebody else. Thanos is a really major villain, so he may be saved up for the third Avengers movie. If ever we do see him soon, it would probably be in Guardians of the Galaxy first.

Again, this is all speculation arising out of just a title announcement. And expect rumors to come flying out of the woodwork. But it really is obvious that the title refers to one specific thing: Ultron. I think the bigger question now is: Who will play Ultron? and how will they portray Ultron?
