MARVEL reveals GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, ANT MAN, THOR 2, IRON MAN 3

Marvel's Phase Two Begins

Marvel's recent announcements during this year's San Diego Comic-Con has been the grand tidal wave of the convention. Marvel has made revelations about their upcoming movies.

Marvel, with producer Kevin Feige acting as the Watcher over its current projects, is working on 4 movies in active development.
For 2013: Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013), and Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013).
And for 2014: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014), and Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014).
(more details after the jump)

Although the amount of news may not be as detailed and abundant as what we got out of the Iron Man 3 panel [GO TO THE PREVIOUS ARTICLE], Marvel did revealed some bits about these new Marvel movies.

In the new Captain America movie, the subtitle "The Winter Soldier" refers to the storyline in the comics wherein the character Bucky Barnes (in the movie played by Sebastian Stan), who we all thought was dead, really survived and became an assassin for the Soviet Union.

Game of Thrones' director Alan Taylor will direct Thor: The Dark World. This sequel recently had news that Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Clash of the Titans) has recently exited as the movie's villain. But in this panel, it is confirmed that Zachary Levi will be playing Fandrel.

The Guardians of the Galaxy will indeed be made into a movie, and my guess is that this will be the storyline that will gradually and comfortably link the heavily sci-fi and cosmic universe of Thanos into the Avengers storyline. The characters that will be included in the Guardians line-up for the movie are: StarLord, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot.

In addition, Ant-Man has also been revealed by Feige and the movie's director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) via a test footage that Wright shot for Ant-Man. The footage opened with Ant-Man sitting on a ledge in an air conditioning vent that lead to a hallway guarded by two agents.  The costume was pretty metallic looking, and he snuck through the vent hole and started running down the hallway.  He morphed to normal size, shocking the guards, then morphed back down to ant size and kept running.  Still in “ant size” he leapt up and punched one of the guys in the face, knocking the spit out of him, then he ran and attacked the other guard.

Wright confirmed that the costume mixing the Silver Age and contemporary Ant-Man, adding “Ant-Man will kick your ass one inch at a time.” Wright said there’s no casting to announce, but “revealed” that Ant-Man has been here all day, pulling out an Ant-Man title card and putting it on the table next to him.
