Wonder Woman loses Michelle MacLaren as director; hires Patty Jenkins as replacement

WB's upcoming DC Universe movie "Wonder Woman" has recently had its director changed. Days ago, the project lost its very talented director Michelle MacLaren over creative differences. Now, WB has hired Patty Jenkins for the project. [hit the jump to continue]
Michelle MacLaren (who has previously directed episodes of Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Game of Thrones), her loss from the project is a huge blow for the "Wonder Woman" project. In a statement, the studio said, “Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren have decided not to move forward with plans to develop and direct Wonder Woman together.” Reports coming in from the website Badass Digest, MacLaren’s vision “maybe would have alienated fandom,” with, for example, Wonder Woman having a tiger as a sidekick.

As for Patty Jenkins, she has been known for helming the 2003 film "Monster" with Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci. She also has directed episodes of "Arrested Development", "The Killing", and "Entourage"

What's interesting here is that Jenkins herself was hired to helm "Thor: The Dark World" but also left due to creative differences, before that Marvel project could begin shooting.

"Wonder Woman" starring Gal Gadot (Fast Five) is scheduled for release in 2017.
