Purok 7 screens at the FDCP Cinematheque this week

This week at the FDCP Cinematheque, the film featured is "Purok 7" which is about two siblings who live by themselves after their mother went abroad and their father lived with another woman. The FDCP Cinematheque is located at the B&C Square Building, Solis Street, Iloilo City (near BPI and East West Bank). The Cinematheque is Iloilo's home of quality indie films and art films from the local and international cinema. [hit the jump to continue]

Diana (Krystle Valentino) and her little brother (Miggs Cuaderno) go through life and childhood in a country farm village particularly called "Purok 7" (Zone 7) where they experience the familiar, delightful ride that is growing up, along with the challenges that they are forced to deal with despite their young age. For one, their father is living with another woman in the area while their mother is working abroad. Set against a backdrop of laid-back living and copious optimism characteristic of country life, Purok 7 is an endearing tale of innocence and reality, and the wonderfully inescapable bonds of community.

"Purok 7" won Best Film at the Lucas - International Festival of Films for Children and Young People in 2014, and received various awards nominations from the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, Golden Screen Awards, Calgary International Film Festival, Hamburg Film Festival, and the Orlando Film Festival. "Purok 7" is written and directed by Carlo Obispo, who was one of the writers for last December's "Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo"

"Purok 7" has its Tuesday to Thursday screening skeds at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM, and Friday to Sunday skeds at 1:30, 3:30, and 5:30 PM.
