UNCHARTED hires "Horrible Bosses" director and "The Hurtlocker" writer

The upcoming film adaptation for the video game "Uncharted" looks like its getting a top-caliber writer to pen its screenplay. Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) is being brought in to work on the screenplay. Seth Gordon, who directed "The King of Kong" and "Horrible Bosses", is set to helm this adaptation. "Uncharted" is targeting a June 10, 2016 release date. [hit the jump to continue]

Uncharted is actually an action-adventure third-person shooter platform video game series that follows an Indiana Jones type protagonist treasure hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake, as he seeks the lost treasure of El Dorado in South America with the help of journalist Elena Fisher and mentor Victor "Sully" Sullivan. They are pursued relentlessly by both pirates led by Eddy Raja and later on by a group of mercenaries led by Gabriel Roman and Atoq Navarro, the former whom Sully is indebted to. In the game's sequels, we see Drake continuing his adventures in various exotic locations, such as
the snow-capped mountain landscapes of Tibet, Istanbul, the jungles of Borneo and the urban landscapes of Nepal, the streets of London and Colombia, a château in France, a castle in Syria, a city in Yemen and the sprawling deserts of the Rub' al Khali.

The screenwriter for the upcoming movie adaptation, Mark Boal is a former journalist, and is also the writer of "Zero Dark Thirty". According to THR, Boal is a fan of the video game. Director Seth Gordon's most notable movie is the popular video game documentary "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" and his hit "Horrible Bosses" are both indications that he could deliver a engagingly fun adaptation for "Uncharted", these days, it's that element of high-quality lively fun comedy that is usually lacking in recent action-adventure movies.

As for the casting, actors like Mark Wahlberg and Chris Pratt have been attached to play the Nathan Drake character. Pratt has already officially passed on the role however.
