“Ilo-ilo” to be screened in Iloilo this week

The highly acclaimed and multi-awarded Singaporean drama film entitled "Ilo-ilo" will be shown in Iloilo City this week (only from April 29, 2014 to May 4, 2014), at the FDCP Cinematheque, B & C Building, Solis Street, Iloilo City. [hit the jump to continue]

"Ilo-ilo" is a story of a Singaporean family who is having such simple but emotionally tumultuous troubles in life, at the center of the story is 10-year old Jiale who is such a troublesome kid, and the changes he's going through when he meets the Filipina maid hired by his parents. This story is based upon the experiences and memories of its director Anthony Chen and the Filipina maid, Aunti Terry from Iloilo, who acted as her nanny when he was a kid. The film stars Chen Tianwen as Teck, the father, Yeo Yann Yann as Hwee Leng, the mother, Koh Jia Ler as Jiale, and Angeli Bayani as Auntie Terry. "Ilo ilo" is Singapore's entry to the Academy Awards which was held early this year.

"Ilo ilo" may have its official home in Singapore, because this is a Singaporean movie directed by Singaporean director Anthony Chen. But at its emotional core, we Ilonggos can acknowledge a certain connection, a certain emotional link with the movie. "Ilo ilo" is something that Ilonggos, especially domestic helpers working abroad, or who have worked abroad, can definitely relate to.

Screening skeds for "Ilo-ilo" are as follows: April 29 to May 2 (Tuesday to Friday), screenings are at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM, and May 3 to May 4 (Saturday & Sunday) screenings are at 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM. Admission fee is only 100 pesos.

Please do also look out for the upcoming movies at the FDCP which include;
