Fantastic Four Cast Revealed

As many of you already know, the film series reboot for Fox's Marvel Superhero team The FANTASTIC FOUR is currently actively being developed, with Josh Trank (Chronicle) set to direct. Fox is currently finalizing their casting for the main characters of the movie. Up for the role of Mr. Fantastic is Miles Teller (Project X, Rabbit Hole, The Spectacular Now), Invisible Girl will be played by Kate Mara (Brokeback Mountain, Shooter, The Open Road), The Human Torch will be played by Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, Fruitvale Station), and The Thing will be played by Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Jumper). Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on June 19, 2015. [hit the jump to continue on to our opinions]

Well, this is probably THE WORST Casting I've ever seen in a superhero movie since Schwarzenegger being cast as Mr. Freeze. Usually, I am open-minded about casting choices, but this is one casting line-up that is all-terrible. Terrible in the sense that it goes beyond what the essence of its characters are. It is obvious that this is being given that "Twilight" formula in order to target the young adult demographic, regardless of breaking serious rules of the property they are adapting.

Mr. Fantastic is supposed to be the much older of the group. His trademark physical look is his white hair on his sides, signifying age, seniority, and his brilliance as one of the most intelligent characters in the Marvel universe. Miles Teller's appearance gives off the impression of either being too youthful and has a teenager's charm, or is the young angry rebel. Neither of those impressions give off age and/or wisdom.

Invisible Girl is noted as one of the most beautiful women in the Marvel universe. While I would agree that Kate Mara is a very attractive lady, I could not deny the fact that she does not reach that level of physical impact that the character should have.

The Thing may be in non-human form for the majority of the movie, but his original human form Ben Grimm was a burly man, and is definitely much, much older than Jamie Bell's age, who looks pretty petite compared to the human Ben Grimm.

And the worst casting of the four is that of Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch. But that statement may have its conditions. You see, Jordan may have been the perfect actor for the role IF the actress they picked for Invisible Girl is African American, simply because Invisible Girl and The Human Torch are siblings. Jordan is extremely capable of portraying the energetic and cocky demeanor of The Human Torch, but if he stays, Kate Mara should be replaced.
