Bettlejuice 2 Now Seems Like a Big Possibility

After two decades, Beetlejuice might finally get resurrected this time. The sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 film Beetlejuice has been in development for years, and according to sources, it has never been off Burton's concern (although you wonder why it has taken this long). it.  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter writer Seth Grahame-Smith was tasked with penning a new screenplay, but Burton said his involvement was based on the quality of the script.  Now it appears that script is good enough as The Wrap reports that Burton is in talks to direct the further adventures of the mischievous ghoul. [hit the jump to continue]

Burton recently wrapped on the biopic Big Eyes, and although that he has other projects lined up such as an adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, the possibility of doing the Beetlejuice sequel has gotten serious, and they’re thinking about moving in together.

As for Keaton, he’s been keeping busy lately with roles in HBO’s Clear History, Alejandro González Iñárritu‘s Birdman, the remake of RoboCop, and the adaptation of the video game Need for Speed.  But when it comes to reprising Beetlejuice, Keaton said back in 2010 that “Oh, I’d do that in a heartbeat… Absolutely.  That’s the one thing I’d love to do again.”  He’s busier now than he was three years ago, but The Wrap reports that the actor is expected to return.  That’s terrific because if Beetlejuice 2 is going to happen, nobody other than Keaton should play the role.  They’ll just look silly.
