American Remake of THE RAID: REDEMPTION being developed

Hollywood is about to get its hands on Gareth Evans' Indonesian Martial Arts Masterpiece THE RAID: REDEMPTION and develop a Hollywood Remake for it. According to Bleeding Cool, an American remake has been in the works with Sony for a while now with the original’s director, Gareth Evans, attached as an executive producer. And this week, we learned that Jon and Erich Hoeber (both writers of Battleship and Red 2, two of Hollywood's most childishly awful movies), are in the early stages of rewriting the script.

Reportedly, the original structure is said to be in tact, but the Hoebers may change some of the film’s dialogue (there wasn’t much in the original) as well as make other Americanized revisions. However, considering Evans is still attached to the remake, the no-holds-barred action sequences and the incredible martial arts battles will hopefully be unaltered.

There's already a GOOD remake for THE RAID, and it is the 2012 movie DREDD starring Karl Urban, based on the comic book character Judge Dredd. It was NOT actually intended to be a remake for THE RAID, but the similarities between THE RAID and DREDD have been coincidentally similar. But both movies are so good that nobody really degrades one movie as ripping off the other. This new one, however, already looks like it's going to be the one that will be the ugly black sheep.
