Jazz in Love screens at the FDCP Cinematheque this week

This week at the FDCP Cinematheque, the romantic documentary "Jazz in Love" by Baby Ruth Villarama, will be screened. It will be screened from March 10 to 15, 2015. The FDCP Cinematheque is located at the B&C Square Building, Solis Street, Iloilo City (near BPI and East West Bank). The Cinematheque is Iloilo's home of quality indie films and art films from the local and international cinema.

"Jazz in Love" is a documentary that tells the story of Ernesto “Jazz” Tigaldao, 22, a gay man from Davao, whose dream wedding is within reach, his German boyfriend, Theodor Rutkowski, of eleven months has proposed. They met on Facebook. Because no law allows them to get married in the Philippines, Jazz must fly to Germany and tie the knot there. One of the things that stand in his way is his inability to speak the German language, and to address that he must temporarily relocate to Manila for language lessons, and he needs to pass an exam before he can get his fiancĂ© visa, thus enabling him to fly to Germany to marry Theo..
Meanwhile, his parents remain completely unaware of the radical changes that his life is about to undergo. Jazz and Theo are ordinary lovers extraordinarily in love with each other, yet they also face challenges that are no different from the typical straight relationship. And these challenges constantly threaten that happy ending.

Makes the audience have a clear understanding of same-sex love and how it is simply similar to heterosexual love. How many aspects of same-sex love also go through basically the same problems and trials as heterosexual love. This film is directed by Baby Ruth Villarama who explains:
"This documentary film is a simple love story. The main truth we all realized about the love story of Jazz is that in love, we are all in equal footing,"

"Jazz in Love" is the product of the 3rd Documentary Workshop conducted by the Goeth Institut and the French Embassy in Manila, and became the opening film of the 9th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. It was also included in the "Wide Angle Section" (which showcased short films, documentaries, and animated films) of the Busan International Film Festival in 2013.

Screening skeds for "Jazz in Love" for Tuesday to Thursday are 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, and for Friday to Sunday skeds are 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.
