Cine Verde at the Cinematheque this Week

The Film Development council of the Philippines' World Premieres Film Festival continues this week at the Iloilo Cinematheque with the Cine Verde films which highlight environmental awareness. Film entries in this section deal with particular concerns on the protection and restoration of the natural environment, pollution control and protection of plant and animal diversity. This week's film fest will run August 26 to 31, 2014. The FDCP Cinematheque is located at B&C Square Bldg., Iznart-Solis Street (near BPI Iznart), Iloilo City. Admission is Free. A Thirsty World
Directed by Thierry Piantanida and Baptiste Rouget-Luchaire, this documentary takes us in a journey around the world, looking at one of the major challenges to human survival: WATER. Today, against a backdrop of sharply increasing demand, growth in the world population and the growing impact of an unsettled climate, water has become one of the most precious natural resources of our planet.
A THIRSTY WORLD attempts to bring us an aerial view of the world with the harsh, everyday reality of all those people who are deprived of water and may even die for lack of it, the people engaged in the daily struggle to find water, purify it or bring it to those who need it. If you ask me, people who think the Ice Bucket Challenge is fun to watch should go watch this movie and open their minds about what's going on in the world.

But the children along with many environmentalists are seeking a way to release the bird. When the news spreads in the southern ports, the coastal people are also involved in the adventure

The Ideal City
An ecologically minded Italo engineer moved from Palermo to Siena, its ideal city, a long time ago. He has carried out an experiment in his flat for longer than one year: living in full self-sufficiency, without running water or electricity. On a rainy night, he finds himself in judicial quicksand after he pulls over his borrowed car to help someone lying in the road. It's an intriguing, only lightly absurdist drama.
