2004's The Incredibles, was such a big breakthrough animated superhero movie, it garnered such a wide fanbase who adored it. And ever since that time, everybody wondered why a sequel has not yet been made. Sequels for Cars and Monsters, Inc. had been since then, yet there was no news for an Incredibles sequel. After a really long time, the wait is over, the sequel is confirmed; The Incredibles 2 is a go. In addition to the announcement, Cars 3 is also set to be made. [hit the jump to continue]
It was during Disney's annual shareholders meeting when The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 were announced. Earlier this week, it was also announced by Disney Pixar that The Incredibles and Ratatouille will be re-released in 3-D format. This already aroused suspicion days earlier of the Incredibles sequel since it has been branded by many as the Pixar movie everybody wants to see a sequel of.
More exciting is the fact that Brad Bird is coming back to direct the Incredibles sequel, and even back then, he has expressed the fact that he has some ideas for the sequel. This is all very good news for the fans and the integrity of this sequel.
Back in 2012, during those times when he was interviewed for his movie "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" he was asked about a possible The Incredible sequel. He had this to say:
“I can’t say I’m actively working on it, but I have some ideas and if I ever get it all together into a story that is at least as good as the one we did, I’d be happy to return to that world. I love working with Pixar.”
In another interview, he added these bits about that sequel:
“I would like to think that I have several good ideas that could be incorporated into a next Incredibles, but I don’t have a whole movie yet, and the last thing I want to do is do it just because it would open big, or something like that.”
And finally, in another interview, he had this to say:
“I think the reason it hasn’t [happened] yet is because the studio would like me to do it, if there were another Incredibles, and I’ve told them that I’m not really friendly to have someone else take away my child.”
In summation, we can safely say that this sequel is going the right direction.
Disney Pixar's other projects that are set to be released are the following:
Inside Out, which its logline goes:
The inventive new film will take you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind.
Inside Out is set for a June 19, 2015 release date.
The Good Dinosaur, which its logline goes:
What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?
The Good Dinosaur is set for release November 25, 2015.
Finding Dory, which is the sequel to Finding Nemo, is set for release on June 2016.
