Warcraft's Initial Cast Batch

The WARCRAFT movie is one of those most highly anticipated films that so many fans cant wait to see. And now, the movie adaptation project which will be directed by Duncan Jones, is getting their initial casting line-up that include Collin Farrell, Paula Patton (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), Paul Dano (Prisoners), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), Travis Fimmel (History Channel’s Vikings), and Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels). There are no details on who they might play, but both Farrell and Patton are being eyed for the lead roles. WARCRAFT will be based more on earlier Warcraft games, and will hope to spawn sequels based on later Warcraft games such as the MMORPG Game World of Warcraft. WARCRAFT has a January 2014 production start-date, and a 2015 target release date. [hit the jump to continue]

Collin Farrell seems to be an okay choice to play a lead role in this movie, aside from the fact that he is a good actor, his Irish look and accent seems right for the role. Paula Patton is also a nice choice; she is beautiful in a sort of exotic way that makes her look like she could come from any race. She also has this amazonian structure; muscled and sexy, quite opposite from the typical waifish thin girls or effeminately frail like any of the typical lead female roles in recent movies. Paul Dano has proven his acting prowess in more than enough roles in movies like Looper and Prisoners. Anton Yelchin also has had enough superstar power gained from movies like the new Star Trek, and lead roles in Terminator Salvation and the underrated Odd Thomas. Plus, Yelchin has that Frodo-esque aura. Fimmel and Mount certainly have the look for a movie such as Warcraft as well, and their acting seems okay. The initial cast looks like they could deliver a good Warcraft movie. I'm sure that more casting news will be unveiled as we get closer to the formal start of production.

Legendary Pictures is producing Warcraft with an eye towards a 2015 release date.
