Will ATTACK ON TITANS finally get a live-action movie adaptation?

'Shingeki no Kyojin' (Attack on Titans) is an anime series, based on a popular manga, that just begun airing in Japan April this year, yet it has already gathered a large fandom, not only in Japan, but here in the Philippines as well. Before the manga was adapted into anime, there had already been talks of a live-action movie; something that its large fanbase will surely go crazy over. This poster has been spreading around the internet and has generated so many rumors filled with excitement. Is this indeed the poster for the live-action movie adaptation of Attack on Titans? Unfortunately, no. It's a hoax. [details after the jump]

The person who uploaded this poster is Kouji Tajima, a Japanese conceptual artist. It's not related to any upcoming movie that is set to be released soon, it's probably just art that he has been playing around with. Kouji Tajima currently works as a conceptual artist with Double Negative, a renown visual effects production company. He has also worked on many movies such as 'Les Misérables', 'Total Reacall' and the upcoming 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' and 'Space Pirate Captain Harlock'.

As far as 2011, there had already been talks of a live-action movie adaptation of Attack on Titans. Award-wining director Tetsuya Nakashima (Confessions, Kamikaze Girls, Paco and the Magical Picture Book) had initially been tapped to helm this adaptation. But news and developments on the project were suddenly halted when Nakashima left the project due to considerable creative differences on the scriptwriting and other matters. Publisher of the manga Kodansha had initially announced that it is preparing to resume the project, although the new director for the film is still undecided. The movie is still expected to be released in 2014 or later. But ever since that report, news on the project has been silent, and is seemingly just enjoying the success of the TV/anime adaptation.

The story of Attack on Titans; follows the life of humans after giants suddenly appear and take over the entire world. To keep out these invaders who eat humans for food, the humans erect huge walls, but at the cost of their freedom in the outside world.
