Among the list included are Nick Joaquin's "A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino" directed by Lamberto Avellana. This 1965 classic black and white movie received six Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Award nominations, including a FAMAS Best Picture nomination. It is based on the literary play of the same title written in English by Filipino National Artist for Literature and one of the Philippine’s best postwar author, poet, and playwright Nick Joaquin. It was described as Joaquin’s “most popular play”, as the "most important Filipino play in English", and as “probably the best-known Filipino play” Apart from being regarded also as the “national play of the Philippines” because of its popularity, it also became one of the important reads in English classes in the Philippines. Also showing this June, (a more older movie) is the classic "Ibong Adarna" movie. This 1941 film adaptation of the popular Filipino legend of the Ibong Adarna is directed by Vicente Salumbides. "Ibong Adarna" was a landmark film because it was the first Tagalog movie with color sequences. Each frame in which the Adarna bird appeared was meticulously hand-painted.

Iliw is a 2009 period piece set during the World War 2 Japanese occupation of the Philippines, a young girl from Vigan and an idealistic Japanese officer fall in love. With a war between them and disapproval from both sides, the two struggle to find their own piece of happiness in the world as duty and family threaten to tear them apart.

Two other movies are the 1997 movie "Rizal sa Dapitan" which is about Rizal's exile in Dapitan in 1892, his love story with Josephine Bracken, and the fates that he had to face. It stars Albert Martinez as Rizal, and Amanda Page as Bracken. The other movie is also a Rizal story; "Jose Rizal, Ang Buhay Ng Isang Bayani" is a documentary with Pen Medina playing as Jose Rizal.
