Doctor Strange is next in line for Marvel's Phase Three Plans

Although basically this is not part of Marvel's Phase Two, the development for the adaptation of the Marvel mystic hero DOCTOR STRANGE has now commenced according to Marvel Studios President (and Mastermind behind the success of the recent marvel movie projects) Kevin Feige. Marvel's Phase Two has kicked off with the recent release of Iron Man 3. It is safe to assume that Phase Two has all its plans in place already. By now, Phase Three would be going through initial planning stages, and Doctor Strange might be part of Phase Three.

According to an interview with Collider, Feige offered a promising update on the impending Doctor Strange movie.  Feige said that they are now actively working on the film, and it should be one of the next Marvel movies following the beginning of Phase Three. He states: “As we look past 2015, past Avengers 2 and Ant-Man, I think Dr. Strange should be one of the next movies in the years following that.” [Read the Full Article, Synopsis, and our Casting Choices for this project]

Feige adds:
“Dr. Strange is something that I talk about often and it’s sort of next up for us to dig into and explore.  Our executive producer of Iron Man 3, having done Captain America: The First Avenger and as that was finishing he started working on the bones that would become Iron Man 3, and now that he’s finished with Iron Man 3, he’s working on the bones that would become Doctor Strange.  Now that Iron Man 3 is finished, some of our quote-unquote spare time is going to be devoted to trying to crack Strange.”

DOCTOR STRANGE is something that I am definitely looking forward to see, whether he may actively be part of the Avengers storyline or not. His world is more about mysticism and dark magic. His origin/backstory is most definitely interesting as well.

ABOUT DOCTOR STRANGE
Doctor Stephen Strange was a brilliant but egotistical neurosurgeon who only cared about wealth from his career. Then a car accident damaged his hands, shattering the bones. The damage and subsequent healing effectively ended his ability to conduct surgery as he had before, since his hands now trembled uncontrollably. Too proud to take on a teaching job, Strange desperately began the search for a cure to restore his hands, consulting various doctors, homeopathic treatments and travelling around the world to remote regions for exotic cures, all to no avail.

Having completely exhausted all funds and reduced to homelessness, Strange is left to performing back alley medical procedures for cash. Depressed and still searching for a cure, Strange locates a hermit called the Ancient One in the Himalayas. The Ancient One refuses to help because of Strange's selfishness, but senses his good side which he attempts to bring to the surface. He fails, but Strange's goodness does show itself when he discovers the Ancient One's disciple, Baron Mordo, attempting to kill the old man. After Strange selflessly thwarts Mordo, (who becomes Strange's most enduring antagonist), he is taught the mystic arts, and eventually becomes the Master of Mystic Arts.

CASTING
There has been no casting news for Doctor Strange as of yet. But my personal choices would include Andrew Lincoln (from The Walking Dead), Iain Glen (Ser Jorah Mormont from Game of Thrones), Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love), but my favorite, and the actor I consider as perfect for the role would be Aidan Gillen (Lord Petyr Baelish from Game of Thrones). His role in Game of Thrones gives us a glimpse on how he can portray a character who can be arrogant, yet mysterious and deceitful at the same time, an aura that can be molded into what could be a perfect Doctor Strange portrayal.

Who do you think would make a great Doctor Strange? what kind of Doctor Strange movie would you want to see? Hit the comments!
