TOMB RAIDER Reboot Being Planned

Lara Croft Returns!

After the recent critical and financial success of the new Tomb Raider video game, a reboot of the film franchise is now looking promising.  Game developer Crystal Dynamics was previously reported as working with GK Films on a new feature after the production company acquired the film rights from Square Enix, Ltd. back in 2011.  Now, it looks like MGM has signed on to partner with GK Films in getting the reboot off the ground.  [CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO READ THE REST OF THE ARTICLE]

GK Films founder Graham King will head up development of the Tomb Raider reboot and is expected to begin immediately. The most recent game was the fifth installment in the franchise developed by Crystal Dynamics, it’s been described as a reboot and origin story that will be the first in a new continuity.  There is no official word on the film’s plot, but it would most certainly share at least some elements in common with the new game.  In fact, Variety further reports that, with GK Films and Crystal Dynamics working hand in hand, the rebooted game will serve as a foundation for the rebooted film franchise.

As far as acting and image-wise goes, Angelina Jolie did a fine job portraying Lara Croft int he first two movies. Surely, we will be expecting a new actress that will take on the role of the sexy, daring Tomb Raider. No casting announcements have been made yet. But I'm sure that many of you are cooking up your own ideas. What's most interesting about the new Tomb Raider game, from which this reboot is being based upon, is that Lara Croft looks more like a realistic sexy Rambo, instead of the impractical cosplay slut look which she had in the previous games. I wonder what approach the new film will be taking. This is indeed another upcoming film franchise to look forward to.
