CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER cast looks completely impressive!
by Reymundo Salao
The casting of the Marvel movie sequel CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER has been going along well with an interesting line-up. Recent reports indicate UFC Champion Georges St-Pierre is cast as the villain known as Batroc the Leaper. Frank Grillo (who is best known for his role in Prison Break) is set to play the villainous assassin Crossbones, Anthony Mackie will play Cap's ally Falcon. And more intruigingly, it has lately been reported that Robert Redford is set to playe a high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. officer known only as Pierce. This is geektastically good news because Redford, (who has lately been thought to be retired from making films) is known for a lot of 'cold-war era' espionage movies back in the 70's and 80's and this makes him a perfect addition to the "Winter Soldier" storyline.

THE WINTER SOLDIER storyline refers to a storyline about Steve Rogers' (Captain America's) friend Bucky who has been thought to have been dead, is actually alive and has, ever since after the World war, been trained by the Soviets as a ruthless wetworks assassin. Sebastian Stan, who played Bucky in the first movie, returns as the titular character. Producer Kevin Feige described the film as a political thriller. Feige is one of the big men behind the development of the whole Marvel movies leading to the ultra-successful Avengers. The film will be directed, this time, by Anthony and Joe Russo, who are best known for their work as executive producers and directors on the first several seasons of the NBC series Community and the ABC series Happy Endings. Also joining the cast is Emily VanCamp for a role unannounced as of yet.
Batroc the Leaper, whom Georges St-Pierre will play, is a Captain America villain who is best known as a master in the martial art known as Savate. Although he is considered a 'villain' his character has sometimes been known to switch sides, and sometimes fights alongside the good guys. Crossbones (played by Frank Grillo) is the villainous assassin who is also known in the Marvel Universe as the one who assassinated Captain America in their "Civil War" series storyline. The Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) is Captain America's most prominent superhero partner in the 1970's era of the comics.
Of course, Chris Evans reprises his role as Captain America, and returning with appearances are Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), and Toby Jones as HYDRA scientist Arnim Zola makes a return (Could he be the villain pulling the strings this time?). Also returning is Maximiliano Hernández who reprises his role as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Jasper Sitwell from Thor and The Avengers, and potentially is already a main character in the connecting Marvel movies-to-Avengers-to-S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is scheduled to be released on April 4, 2014
