Apo Hiking Society's Music to be immortalized in film?
by Reymundo Salao

The Apo Hiking Society has been one of the major icons of Original Pilipino Music. Their songs are timeless and have long been really identified with, and embodies Filipino culture. Just a few years ago, their popularity has been reawakend by a tribute album and a major re-releaseing of their material. Now, a musical film entitled "I Do Bi Doo Bi Doo" will give life to the music of the Apo Hiking Society. It will have a cast composed of Sam Concepcion and Tippy Dos Santos on the lead; Eugene Domingo, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gary Valenciano and Ogie Alcasid. It will also include Neil Coleta, Frenchie Dy, Sweet Plantado, Kiray Celis, Gerald Pesigan, Jimmy Fabregas, Ishmael Aldefat and John Mark Ibañez.

The movies is set during the 70's and it’s a story about two youngsters, namely Rock (Sam Concepcion) and Tracey (Tippy Dos Santos), who fell in love, and in the process, the Tracey got pregnant. The parents were against it; it was a big deal during those conservative times for the young and unwed to get pregnant. The movie then focuses on their plans for marriage, and also on its interesting characters.

Rock's parents are Rose (Eugene Domingo) who is a caterer, and Pol (Ogie Alcasid), a "one-hit wonder" songwriter who teaches kids at a music class. while Tracey comes from a very rich family with his father Nick (Gary Valenciano) and mother Elaine (ZsaZsa Padilla) who herself, also got pregnant when she was very young, and was trapped in a loveless marriage.

Around 17 Apo Hiking Songs will be featured in the movie.

The film is written and directed by Chris Martinez; who also wrote the screenplays for "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank" and "Caregiver", he also wrote and directed the 2011 "Temptation Island".

is produced by Unitel Films, which has been responsible for the better Pinoy movies, like "Crying Ladies", "La Visa Loca", and "Inang Yaya". It is also co-produced by Madonna Tarrayo, producer of “Babae sa Septic Tank”. The film is set to be released mid-2012.
