Sine at Panitikan 2017

Last Tuesday, FDCP Cinematheque held the program "SiPat: Sine at Panitikan". This is part of the Buwan ng Panitikan ng Filipinas 2017. The event began with a screening of the newly restored film classic "Noli Me Tangere" by legendary Filipino filmmaker Gerry De Leon. Then the screening was followed by a lecture and Q & A with Film Archivist and National Commission for Culture and the Arts Commissioner Teddy Co, and G. RR Cagalingan of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.

FDCP's "Make the Cut" Film Editing Workshop Project launched in Iloilo

Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis Screens in Iloilo [updated March 23, 2016]

The controversial 8-hour epic film by Lav Diaz "Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis" is set to have a screening at the FDCP Cinematheque Iloilo this March 26, 2015 Saturday. Engkwentro Screens in Iloilo via Active Vista Filmfest

"Ang Babae sa Likod ng Mambabatok" finally gets an Iloilo screening this week, as it will be shown at the FDCP Cinematheque from January 13 up till January 18, 2015, with screenings scheduled 3:30 and 5:30 PM on the weekdays, and 1:30 and 3:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday. It was a memorable week for Iloilo City and the film arts of Western Visayas, as the second CineKasimanwa: Western Visayas Film Festival was held last December 8 t0 13, 2014. The three venues namely; the UPV Cinematheque, the FDCP Cinematheque, and SM City Iloilo Cinema, were showing films made by filmmakers of Western Visayas. From magnificent works by established Visayan artists like Lav Diaz, Peque Gallaga, Tara Illenberger, Ned Trespeces, and Jay Abello, to pioneers like Joenar Pueblo and Ray Gibraltar, the amazing features from TM Malones, Kip Oebanda and Aimee Apostol Escasa, to the works of filmmakers from Guimbal, Negros, and unforgettable short films from various artists, among them are young directors coming out with their debut masterpieces. Undoubtedly, the CineKasimanwa definitely accomplished their objective this year, of giving spotlight on marvellous films of Western Visayas and introducing them to the mainstream public. Ilonggo Filmmakers of CineKasimanwa Meet and Unite

Dec. 6, 2014 - The united Ilonggo filmmakers front (new and returning), media partners from Manila and the CineKasimanwa volunteers gathered to renew their support for each other and the CineKasimanwa: Western Visayas Film Festival at the iconic Ilonggo's pride, Madge Cafe, at Tienda La Paz (La Paz Market), Iloilo City.

Cinekasimanwa 2 Facbook Site launched and Extension of Entry Deadline

We are at the doorsteps of November and December is getting really close now; The second Cinekasimanwa: The Western Visayas Film Festival is fast approaching. We dropped by last weekend at the FDCP Cinematheque office and found out that there have already been a number of entry films that have been submitted for the festival.

This week, the official facebook site of Cinekasimanwa 2, along with its beautiful new festival posters were launched. The new facebook site [www.facebook.com/cinekasimanwa2014] has also announced the extended deadline for entries, now set on or before November 25, 2014. The festival itself will be held on December 8 to 14, 2014. The event will have three venues at the same time; it will be at the SM City Cinemas, the FDCP Cinematheque, and the UPV Cinematheque; same as last year. [hit the jump to continue]

Rescue in the Philippines: Refuge from the Holocaust this week at the FDCP Cinematheque

This week the FDCP Iloilo Cinematheque presents a screening of an eye-opening documentary entitled "Rescue in the Philippines: Refuge from the Holocaust". A one-hour documentary about that chronicles an intricate international plan of rescue and resettlement that saved 1,300 Jews from certain death in Nazi concentration camps. This intricately-well-research documentary by Russell Hodge, Cynthia Scott-Johnson, Terry Irving, and Jenny Gebhardt is narrated by superstar Liev Schrieber (The Sum of All Fears, Ray Donovan). The screening runs this week, from October 7 up till October 12, 2014 with 3:30 and 5:30 PM screenings up till Friday, and 1:30 and 3:30 PM screenings on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is Free. Cine Europa 17, Day 1, at the FDCP Cinematheque today

Today marks the opening day of the FDCP and FCEP's Cine Europa 17 film festival, with three films, from Spain, Norway, and the Czech Republic. This event is in cooperation with the European Union, European Embassies and Cultural Institutes accredited to the Philippines, and is schedules from September 30 to October 5 2014. Venue is at the Cinematheque Iloilo, and it is free of charge. The Second Cinekasimanwa Film Festival sets date, call for entries

It will be December soon, and the second Cinekasimanwa: Western Visayas Film Festival is at hand. This week, their official poster that announces the festival's dates and the call for entries, was posted. Last year, Iloilo and Panay had witnessed a cultural milestone as the first Cinekasimanwa: The Panay Islands Film Festival was launched, and it had opened the floodgates for Iloilo and Panay's film artists take center stage and be acknowledged. The event was a success, and now on its second year, Cinekasimanwa 2 promises to be bigger and better.

Georgian Films Roadshow this weekend at the FDCP Cinematheque

For three days, the FDCP Cinematheque will be featuring the Georgian Films Roadshow, a handful of beautiful films from Georgia. The festival will run from August 22 Friday till August 24 Sunday.
