Will the Robotech Live-Action Hollywood Adaptation finally move forward?

Looks like the "Robotech" movie is getting made after all, as producers Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton has picked up Michael B. Gordon (screenwriter for "300" and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra") to write the film's script and are looking at Andy Muschietti, who helmed the 2013 film "Mama" to direct it. Lupin the Third set for live-action adaptation

After several decades, Lupin the Third is coming to the big screen once again in a live-action adaptation set for release next year. Kitamura Ryuhei, who also directed the 2003 assassin adventure AZUMI, is set to direct. Akira Live-Action Film Adaptaion Moves Ahead

For years, Warner Bros.has been trying to develop the popular manga/anime AKIRA for a live-action film adaptation, but time and again, they have failed. But most recently, Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown) was attached to direct with a cast that plans to include Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Helena Bonham Carter, and Ken Watanabe.  Collet-Serra and WB had managed to reduce the budget down to somewhere between $60 million and $70 million. Rurouni Kenshin 2 sets date for UK release

Around 2 months ago, we reported that two sequels for the live-action Rurouni Kenshin movie are being made for a planned trilogy. This week, several sources have revealed that the first sequel "Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc" is set to be released this October in the UK. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, set for Exclusive Release at SM Cinemas

Following the success of SM Cinema's release of the One Piece and Hunter X Hunter anime movies exclusively, SM Cinema is once again set to show another anime movie. This time it's DRAGON BALL Z: BATTLE OF GODS and it is set for release on AUGUST 14, 2013 Wednesday at all SM City Cinemas.

DRAGON BALL Z: BATTLE OF GODS was released in Japan on March 30, 2013. It is the first Dragon Ball movie in 17 years to have a theatrical release. It is the first film in the series to be considered an official part of the Dragon Ball storyline, being set between chapters 517 and 518 of the original manga during the ten year time skip, with original creator Akira Toriyama deeply involved.

"Kiki's Delivery Service" currently being made into a live-action movie

Hayao Miyazaki is one of the most popular icons (perhaps even greater than Walt Disney) in the world of animation and animated cinema. In some aspects, he can be considered as a god when it comes to animated cinema. One of his timeless cinematic gems "Kiki's Delivery Service" has now been adapted into a live-action movie. Director Shimizu Takashi who is known for directing Ju-On and The Grudge (Hollywood version/remake of Ju-on) will be taking time away from his horror roots into the more light, fun and fantastical world of Kiki's Delivery Service. Will ATTACK ON TITANS finally get a live-action movie adaptation?

'Shingeki no Kyojin' (Attack on Titans) is an anime series, based on a popular manga, that just begun airing in Japan April this year, yet it has already gathered a large fandom, not only in Japan, but here in the Philippines as well. Before the manga was adapted into anime, there had already been talks of a live-action movie; something that its large fanbase will surely go crazy over. This poster has been spreading around the internet and has generated so many rumors filled with excitement. Is this indeed the poster for the live-action movie adaptation of Attack on Titans? Hunter X Hunter: Phantom Rouge Set for Exclusive Release at SM Cinemas

Tom Cruise attached to upcoming adaptation of Japanese novel, anime Yukikaze

Fresh off the recent release of Oblivion and has also recently finished in the shooting of Doug Liman’s sci-fi thriller All You Need Is Kill, Tom Cruise has recently been attached to star in an adaptation of author Chōhei Kambayashi’s sci-fi novel series "Yukikaze". Yukikaze was also adapted into a five-episode Japanese Original Video Animation (OVA) wch was release in 2002 till 2005.

The book series takes place on an Earth ravaged by war, where a hyper-dimensional passageway opened up over Antarctica thirty years previously, setting into motion events that would find the human race uniting to fight off the mysterious alien force known as JAM. Cruise would play a second lieutenant who is tasked with heading into enemy territory—the alien home planet Fairy—and gathering information that can bring an end to the war once and for all. Live-Action GAIKING Movie Being Developed

With the upcoming Pacific Rim, it seems that the Mecha/Super robot genre is alive! GAIKING, which was one of the most popular mecha robot heroes of the 1970s (along with Voltes V, Mazinger Z, and Daimos) will be made into a movie. And it will have Hollywood backing, with Valhalla Entertainment developing the project alongside Toei and Nippon. [full article and the teaser trailer after the jump]

Rurouni Kenshin in negotiations for Philippine release

Well yesterday there was buzz over the news that the movie is in negotiations to be released in the Philippines, but not by Warner Philippines; but by Pioneer films instead (they distributed movies like Sadako 3D, The Hunger Games, locally). News first broke out of the facebook page MOVIE PUNCH which is said to be the facebook trade name for Pioneer Films.

For now, we wait if the negotiations will go smoothly; and if indeed it will be reeased here, and on when the release date would be. MOVIE PUNCH's admin posted on its facebook site:
"We are posting this for feedbacks before we really negotiate with the production since this film is quite expensive, we are making sure na hindi naman kmi malulugi nito, (we are making sure that we do not loss profits here). (We) will update on this page once na confirm na, thanks guys for your comments regarding this film, we will seriously study this development."

Boycott Warner Bros for Samurai X?

It has been recently reported that the Samurai X movie will not be shown in the Philippines. We reported that this is a big mistake for Warner. I am not just talking about the capability of people to resort to torrents; I am also referring to the backlash that Warner might get.

Internet can be a powerful tool nowadays. If somebody would ask me what I suggest should be done about Rurouni Kenshin, my diabolical mind immediately pooped out an idea:

FANS of RUROUNI KENSHIN should actively CAMPAIGN to BOYCOTT WARNER BROS. movies, urge other people to BOYCOTT their movies (starting with the movie THE CAMPAIGN), up until the day Warner Bros. Philippines makes an official announcement that RUROUNI KENSHIN will indeed have a Philippine release.

SAMURAI X'ED IN THE PHILIPPINES

Bad news for the fans of Rurouni Kenshin a.k.a. Samurai X. It looks like the highly-anticipated film adaptation of the anime/manga series RUROUNI KENSHIN (popularly known in the Philippines as SAMURAI X) will not be having a theatrical release here in the Philippines after all.

The negative buzz came out just this weekend when Warner Bros. Pictures Philippines, via their facebook page stated that they have no rights to release the highly anticipated movie. This is their statement:

"...to the numerous folks asking. We just learned this morning that we do not have rights to release Rurouni Kenshin here in the Philippines."
