SALVI Poster Revealed Online

TM Malones' SALVI: ANG PAGPADAYON to be Screened with the Masters at the National Filmfest

Looks like Ilonggo filmmaker TM Malones' movie SALVI: ANG PAGPADAYON is already done, and will definitely have a grand splash as it will be screened during the Film Development Council of the Philippines' 2013 Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival All-Masters Edition which will exclusively be screened in 45 branches of SM Cinema across the country from September 11, 2013 to September 17, 2013. SALVI was chosen to be the film under the festival's New Breed cinema. SALVI: ANG PAGPADAYON is the feature-length version of Malones' short film SALVI which won the FDCP’s local film competition last January. [hit the jump to continue]

The 2013 Iloilo International Film Festival [updated SM Cinema Skeds]

The 2013 SINENG PAMBANSA is here!

It's that time once again for the ILOILO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. That time again when we Ilonggos, not only celebrate top quality cinema here and from abroad, but also promote films from our own Iloilo filmmakers. This is the fruitful result of the harmonious partnership between the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the Iloilo city Government. The festival will be held on January 24 to 25, and will be held at SM Cinema in SM City Iloilo and the Iloilo Cinematheque.

Up from when it began two years ago, till now, the Festival has now seemed to be part of the Dinagyang Festival Week. This filmfest will showcase an impressive line-up of films consisting of Best Picture winners from the twin editions for the first Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival. This films are  Anac ti Pating (Martin Masadao), Qwerty (Eduardo Lejano Jr.), Ang mga Kidnaper ni Ronnie Lazaro (Sigfreid Barros-Sanchez), Huling Biyahe (Racquel Zaballero-Sanchez and Sigfreid Barros-Sanchez), Malan  (Agustin Pagusara and Benji Garcia), and Qiyamah (Gutierrez Mangansakan II).
Side-by-side the festival screenings at SM Cinema are showcase  of International titles from Spain, Israel and Venezuela, shown at the Cinematheque Iloilo.

A run-up to the festival is a Basic Cinematography Workshop to be conducted by renowned cinematographer Nap Jamir II from Jan 17 to 20 as well as screenings of Ilonggo works from the first Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival from Jan 20 to 31 at the Cinematheque Iloilo. Such Ilonggo works are Gugma sa Panahon sang Bakunawa (Peter Solis Nery), Ang mga Aswang (John Raymund Macahilas), Beadworks  (Ronny N. Poblacion) and Asin (Aimee Apostol Escasa).

Also marking the event is a short film competition with the theme “Ang Ilonggo”  open to ilonggo directors from both  the City and the  Province of Iloilo. Non-Ilonggo participants must have at least one (1) year of residence. Cash prizes await the winners.

The Sineng Pambansa Film Festival Screening Schedule

Last year, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) in cooperation with the Iloilo City Government held the very first Sineng Pambansa (National Cinema) Film Festival here in Iloilo City. This was to be the first of what is expected to be an annual event which celebrates quality films of the country. For three days, the program was able to show a number of quality Filipino indie films that have been critically-acclaimed and award-winning in the international scene . This festivals does indeed upgrade the level of film appreciation among the mainstream, and create a consciousness of what truly is quality cinema.

Now, the Second Sineng Pambansa Iloilo Film Festival is set on January 18 to 20, 2012. It will once again showcase the best in quality cinema. This festival is bent to revitalize both local filmmakers and local audiences by introducing trends and directions in cinema, through nationwide screening of Filipino films.

Admission is FREE, however, there will be tickets so as to control the number of people that go in and out of theaters. You may get the tickets for free at the Iloilo City Tourism office, Iloilo City Mayor's Office, from Mr Joeboy Agriam, FDCP Iloilo Cinematheque at B @ C Square Bldg., Iznart -Solis Street, Sm Cinema 2 & 3. There will also be a team going around schools to distribute.

The Ilonggo Short Film Competition '2012

ILONGGO FILMLOVERS AND FILMMAKERS are in for a treat because one of the events included in this year's Sineng Pambansa Iloilo Film Festival is an Ilonggo Short Film Competition. The competition is divided into two divisions:  The Academic Division and the Municipal Division.  Entries shall follow the theme: “Ang Ilonggo.”

•    Director should be at least 16 years old and must have not joined any major film competition.
•     Director should be from the City or Province of Iloilo. For non-Ilonggos, participants must have at least one (1) year of residency in Iloilo City or Province of Iloilo.
•     Any Digital Camera may be used (including cell phone).
•    The video should be 3-10 minutes long (including OBB/CBB).
•    Use of copyrighted music is prohibited, unless allowed by the owner of the material.
•    Nudity, foul language, slur on religious belief, or any other form of offensive content shall likewise be prohibited.
•    Film may be in native tongue or dialect but must have readable English subtitles.
•    All entries should be submitted in DVD format.
•    Deadline for submission of entries and stints will be January 12, 2012. Entries should be submitted to:

Announcement of the finalists will be on January 18, 2012.  All finalists will be competing in the Film Festival on January 20, 2012 at SM City Cinema. The Jury will be composed of Filmmakers and the FDCP. Awards Night will be on January 21, 2012. Cash Prizes for each division are as follows:

a. Best Film - P35,000
b. 1st Runner-up - 20,000
c. 2nd Runner-up - 10,000

The Sineng Pambansa 2012

SINENG PAMBANSA RETURNS TO ILOILO THIS JANUARY
The Second Sineng Pambansa Iloilo Film Festival is set on January 18 to 20, 2012. Last November 28, 2011, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and USec Briccio Santos of the Film Development Council of the Philippines has already signed an agreement for the conduct of the upcoming festival. It will once again showcase the best in quality cinema. This festival is bent to revitalize both local filmmakers and local audiences by introducing trends and directions in cinema, through nationwide screening of Filipino films. See you in the theaters on January 18 to January 20, 2012!!!

SINENG PAMBANSA Iloilo Film Fest 2011

THE SINENG PAMBANSA Iloilo Film Festival 2011 report

The City of Iloilo and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) have launched, this week, the first major Philippine film festival outside Metro Manila, the Sineng Pambansa Iloilo Film Fest 2011, the first of what is destined to go on as an annual series. This film fest showcases the country's best films made by the "indie" film community. The screenings of the Film Fest is actually FREE ADMISSION, you don’t have to pay a single centavo to watch these movies. Regular audiences would get to watch internationally acclaimed Pinoy movies like Himpapawid, Bakal Boys, Yanggaw, and many more.

According to the chairman of the FDCP, Briccio Santos, there are plans to make this event an annual series, with a wider scope that would include short films and ilonggo films, additionally the next festival will also possibly one that would include international films, and would include workshops and symposiums to go along with it. He is very much happy that the FDCP has this mutual cooperation with the city government to make this event possible.

SINENG PAMBANSA Iloilo Film Fest 2011 Screening Schedules

The Sineng Pambansa Iloilo Film Festival 2011 will be held from January 19, 2011 to January 21, 2011. The venue of the event will be on SM City Cinema (specifically Cinemas 2 and 3). Several Movies will be shown on the said dates, and on some specific dates, the screening will be coupled with a Question and Answer segment between the audience and the Director/Producer/Stars in attendance.

Iloilo Film Festival to be held this January

The Iloilo City government will host the screening of some eleven independent films for free in Cinemas 2 and 3 of SM City Iloilo starting January 19 to 23, 2011.

The critically acclaimed indie movies are the feature films in the “Sineng Pambansa Iloilo Film Festival 2011”, a project spearheaded by the city government in cooperation with Film Development Council of the Philippines which is under the Office of the President.
