Korean Film "No Breathing" will have Scenes Shot in Davao

An upcoming South Korean movie entitled NO BREATHING is set to have Davao City featured in their movie. The Philippine Star reports that the South Korean filmmakers chose the Davao City for what would be around 15 minutes of the movie. Its Producers have "discovered" Davao when a contingent from the city participated in the Korean World Travel Fair in Seoul last June. This is according to Department of Tourism-XI Regional Director Art Boncato, who also said "They will bring in around 72-man crew with about 15-20 actors." Boncato added that their producers were impressed with the cleanliness and natural resources of Davao when they had their pre-production ocular visit.

FABLES set for a Film Adaptation

One of the best comic books, and one of the most highly-praised comics series (and winner of 14 Eisner Awards), to come out of DC's Vertigo is FABLES. The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as "Fables" – who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at "the Farm" in upstate New York. Now, FABLES is set to be adapted into a film. The Ilonggo Short Film Competition '2012

ILONGGO FILMLOVERS AND FILMMAKERS are in for a treat because one of the events included in this year's Sineng Pambansa Iloilo Film Festival is an Ilonggo Short Film Competition. The competition is divided into two divisions:  The Academic Division and the Municipal Division.  Entries shall follow the theme: “Ang Ilonggo.”

•    Director should be at least 16 years old and must have not joined any major film competition.
•     Director should be from the City or Province of Iloilo. For non-Ilonggos, participants must have at least one (1) year of residency in Iloilo City or Province of Iloilo.
•     Any Digital Camera may be used (including cell phone).
•    The video should be 3-10 minutes long (including OBB/CBB).
•    Use of copyrighted music is prohibited, unless allowed by the owner of the material.
•    Nudity, foul language, slur on religious belief, or any other form of offensive content shall likewise be prohibited.
•    Film may be in native tongue or dialect but must have readable English subtitles.
•    All entries should be submitted in DVD format.
•    Deadline for submission of entries and stints will be January 12, 2012. Entries should be submitted to:

Announcement of the finalists will be on January 18, 2012.  All finalists will be competing in the Film Festival on January 20, 2012 at SM City Cinema. The Jury will be composed of Filmmakers and the FDCP. Awards Night will be on January 21, 2012. Cash Prizes for each division are as follows:

a. Best Film - P35,000
b. 1st Runner-up - 20,000
c. 2nd Runner-up - 10,000
