To top it off, writer Mark Millar has been hired by Fox to act as a “consultant” on all of their developing Marvel properties; that includes Fantastic Four and the X-Men characters (Daredevil, on the other hand, is now back in Marvel's hands). To those unfamiliar, Mark Millar is one of the most prominent writers in the comics world. He created Kick-Ass, Wanted, The Authority, and was the writer behind Marvel's Civil War. Seth Grahame-Smith has completed some polish screenwriting work on The Fantastic Four. Though plot details are being kept under lock and key, apparently the reboot “is taking a grounded superhero and sci-fi approach to the heroes and will tap deep into the comics mythology.” Smith is the author of best-selling novels "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter"; the latter of which has been adapted as a feature film, the former is being developed for film adaptation as well.
According to Millar, he's been working closely with Trank on this one. During an interview with SciFiNow, Millar had this to say...
“From what I’ve seen and from talking to him – he and I have had dinner a couple of times and we talk quite regularly as well – he’s contemporizing it. I think he’s just making it work for the screen – he’s a great storyteller.”
He went on to talk about the pic’s tone, teasing that it will include elements that have yet to grace the silver screen:
“What I wasn’t expecting actually was just how funny and likeable he could make this as well as getting the more awesome moments on screen – I use awesome in the traditional British sense and not the California sense awesome, you know? The Ridley Scott moments, and the Fantastic Four really are jaw-dropping in the same way you feel when you saw Alien for the first time. There’s some moments in this – not to be specific – that are actually gonna be phenomenal on screen and stuff you haven’t seen in a superhero movie before.”
If you ask me, I actually want a Fantastic Four set in the 1960's. But anyhoo, let's just hope it's good. Release date for this movie is set on March 6, 2015.
