Temple Run is being developed into a Movie

One of the more popular games in mobile devices is the game TEMPLE RUN. Hollywood is not setting its sights on making a live-action movie adaptation of this popular video game. Warner Bros. will be developing Temple Run with David Heyman producing.  Heyman, who is best known for producing the Harry Potter film series, also produced their recent hit, Gravity, and is in talks to produce J.K. Rowling‘s next studio franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Temple Run game has the player taking on the role of an explorer who, having stolen an idol from a temple, is chased by "demonic monkeys". The game was initially released for iOS devices, and later ported to Android systems and Windows Phone 8.

Avi Arad set to produce Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, and Mass Effect movies

Avi Arad, who is the founder of Marvel Studios and producer of the earlier Marvel movies, is now moving on to producing video game movie adaptations. UNCHARTED, METAL GEAR SOLID, and MASS EFFECT have all been stuck in development hell for quite a time now. UNCHARTED seems to be the one that will easily get made the earliest because of its storyline potential. Plus, it's been a while since we saw a good Indiana Jones type movie (even the last Indy movie was awful). METAL GEAR SOLID has potential too, but it will be requiring a longer negotiation time with the studios, and may take three years till it could take off. MASS EFFECT, on the other hand, could take around five or six years away before it will take off.

WARCRAFT begins filming 2014

This weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con, particularly at Hall H, the audience got an unexpected trailer.  In an open, alien-looking desert, a human warrior seemingly stands alone.  He drinks the last water from a skein, and drops it on the ground.  He draws a magnificent sword, and steps forward to examine the bones of a fallen soldier.  He picks up a fancy-looking shield.  He begins circling around, facing off an unseen enemy.  The camera pulls back and reveals…an orc wielding a giant battle axe.  The two continue to circle each other.  Then they charge forward, screaming at each other, and the final shot is the orc leaping in the air, bringing down the axe, and we cut to black.  Then the title comes up: WARCRAFT.  The crowd goes wild.  This is the kind of fun surprise that Comic-Con can provide, and Legendary in particular has become so adept at providing.  [full article after the jump]

Splinter Cell movie being developed

Tom Clancy's SPLINTER CELL is a series of award-winning action-adventure stealth video games that follows the military-spy-action-adventures of a covert operative named Sam Fisher. It is set to be adapted into a movie, and that is definitely something to look forward to. Warner Bros. and Paramount have been competing for the rights to produce the adaptation. Ubisoft was pleased to announce that they now have a writer for the project. Screenwriter Eric Singer, who wrote the screenplay for the 2009 espionage thriller The International (starring Clive Owen) has been tapped by Ubisoft to work on the script for a film adaptation of Splinter Cell. They have also been eyeing Tom Hardy for the lead in this movie. [read the full article after the jump]

NEED FOR SPEED live action movie adaptation in the works

NEED FOR SPEED is probably the most successful series of racing video games. Now, DreamWorks Pictures and video game company EA are working together to create a live-action adaptation of this racing franchise to the silver screen. A Behind-the-Scenes featurette video has been released, which gives us a glimpse of what that will look like.  It shows off some top-of-the-line racecars caught up in a high-octane race from the cops, along with commentary from director Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) and shots of star Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) in the driver’s seat. This movie will also star Dominic Cooper, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Imogen Poots, Dakota Johnson and Scott Mescudi. "Need for Speed" is set for a  March 14, 2014 release date. World of Warcraft found its director in Duncan Jones; Will Johnny Depp be among the cast?

Updates on the development of The World of Warcraft movie project have finally been moving along when, just recently, Duncan Jones (director of Source Code and Moon) has been hired to direct the live-action adaptation of the popular multi-media online role-playing game. It was last August when it was announced that a script has been drafted by Saving Private Ryan writer Robert Rodat, and Blood Diamond screenwriter Charles Leavitt has been brought in to do some rewrites on it.

The World of Warcraft loses Raimi; hires Blood Diamond writer Charles Leavitt

The Journey into the World of Warcraft continues
by Reymundo Salao

At this point, everybody knows that Sam Raimi will not be doing the film adaptation of THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT because he has focused his attention on directing OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL instead. Yeah, it sucks, doesn't it? ...that Raimi will not be directing the fantasy epic and chose the Wizard of Oz prequel instead. But that doesn't mean that the W.o.W. movie wont be made; it's still a go. I don't think Legendary Entertainment will want to miss the opportunity to strike a film adaptation of it while its fame is still massively popular.

Assassin's Creed Movie in the works; Michael Fassbender set to star and co-produce

ASSASSIN'S CREED OUT TO ASSASSINATE THE SILVER SCREEN
by Reymundo Salao

Gamer Geeks out there must be flipping out over the news that an ASSASSIN'S CREED movie is about to be made into a movie, one that will be produced by and will star Michael Fassbender. It was actually earlier this year that Sony Pictures announced its intentions to adapt Ubisoft’s popular video game into a movie. But Sony's plans were stalling due to Ubisoft’s demands for control.  The negotiations between the studios were put on hold as Ubisoft looked to develop the film independently.  However, the film is set to go anyway as Michael Fassbender is set to star in and co-produce the flick.
