World of Warcraft found its director in Duncan Jones; Will Johnny Depp be among the cast?

Updates on the development of The World of Warcraft movie project have finally been moving along when, just recently, Duncan Jones (director of Source Code and Moon) has been hired to direct the live-action adaptation of the popular multi-media online role-playing game. It was last August when it was announced that a script has been drafted by Saving Private Ryan writer Robert Rodat, and Blood Diamond screenwriter Charles Leavitt has been brought in to do some rewrites on it.
Now that a director has been announced, production will soon be moving along quick (as so it should, while the game is still very popular). On the casting side, there are wild rumors that say Warner Bros. wants Johnny Depp to star in the movie.

Duncan Jones is considered by many as a wise choice to helm this adaptation, for many reasons. Firstly, if you follow Jones on Twitter you know that he is very much a gamer.  This means we’ll have someone who understands the gaming world crafting the feature film iteration of World of Warcraft.  Secondly, and most importantly, Jones is one hell of a filmmaker.  Both his movies "Moon" and "Source Code" are two films that are very widely praised by critics and just your average movie fans. Let's just thank God this project has not been given to somebody like Paul W. Anderson of the Resident Evil movies!
