Tom Holland is Spider-man; and Jon Watts is its director

The wait is over. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, set for release on July 28, 2017.  The film will be directed by Jon Watts, director of “Cop Car,” the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. Sony set for an Animated Spider-man Film

Tom Rothman, chairman of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, has announced that Sony is set to make an animated Spider-man film, and it will be masterminded by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, the directors of "The Lego Movie", "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs", and "21 and 22 Jump Street". Details of the Spider-man Deal, What Happens to the Other Spin-off Projects?

Yesterday, the big news shocked the geek world. Spider-man will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet still being owned by Sony. This is actually Sony's  agreement with Marvel that sees them maintaining ownership and creative control of the character while gaining exposure to the Marvel Studios fanbase as well as input from Feige, and Marvel studio's "think tank" which made their Marvel movies work. BIG News today! Spider-man will now be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Sony Pictures has announced that Spider-Man will next appear in an untitled Marvel movie before getting a new solo installment, which will be released on July 28, 2017. Kevin Feige will produce the next Spider-Man movie, and yes the role is being recast and its story universe being rebooted to fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Did Sony Strike a Deal with Marvel Studios for a Spider-man Crossover?

No matter how much some fans would deny it, last summer's "The Amazing Spider-man 2" was a failure, and just a big pile of sh1t. Sony has recently been making their Spider-man franchise into a big liability than being a supposed asset. Meanwhile, Marvel Studio's Marvel Cinematic Universe is beautifully blooming into the culmination of Phase 2 with Avengers 2, and is prepped to have a bigger future with Phase 3. Some Spider-man fans have been demanding-- Why dont they just include Spider-man in the Avengers, or in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, as many of you know, that's not easily possible because Spider-man is in the hands of Sony Pictures.

Sony planning a Female-Led Spider-man Spin-Off Movie

With the Sony's Spider-man franchise is in a state of defeat following the disappointing returns of Amazing Spider-man 2, Sony seems to be undergoing plans to improve things. The Future of Spider-man Movies Look Uncertain

Changes are going on at Sony Pictures with regards to the Spider-man movies. Screenwriter/producer Roberto Orci, who penned The Amazing Spider-man 2 with former writing partner Alex Kurtzman, will not be involved with part 3 or any of the Spider-man spin-offs anymore. Orci was initially reported to be part of Sony's plans to move on to part 3 and its spin-offs which include a Venom and The Sinister Six movies. Reports from IGN add that Alex Kurtzman, on the other hand, will remain at the studio to write and direct the Venom spin-off. [hit the jump to continue]

Sony Developing Spin-Off Movies for Venom and The Sinister Six

Sony seems to be buzzed by their own Spider-man universe and so they have been planning spin-off movies for Venom and for The Sinister Six. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (who wrote the Transformers movies), and Jeff Pinkner will be writing Venom, and Kurtzman will direct. Drew Goddard (who co-wrote and directed The Cabin in the Woods) will be writing the screenplay and will possibly direct The Sinister Six. It should also be noted that Goddard is also attached to write and direct Marvel’s 10-episode Daredevil series for Netflix. [hit the jump to continue]

Amazing Spider-man 3 and 4 set for 2016 and 2018 target dates

Sony's reboot of the Spider-man franchise may not be a very good movie, but it did manage to rake in the box office numbers, enough to fuel the urge for a sequel, and continue with their rebooted direction. And while it makes that much money, you can be sure that there will be more Spider-man sequels off this rebooted continuity.

Amazing Spider-man 2 is currently in production, and is slated to be released May 2014. The producers (and Sony) are expressing optimism on their superhero franchise, that they have locked on to set two (2) more films; Amazing Spider-man 3 and Spider-man 4; and have set their target release dates on June 10, 2016, and on May 4, 2018, respectively.
