Snyder, Goyer, Cavill, and Warner Brothers already setting their sights on Man of Steel sequel

MAN OF STEEL has been gathering strong positive buzz, what with the convincing trailers heating up hype, and the overall consensus of critics and audiences who got to screen the movie ahead of its scheduled release. MAN OF STEEL promises critical and box-office gold. So much so that Warner Brothers is greenlighting the sequel to this new Superman franchise with the same team; writer/director team of David S. Goyer and Snyder will return as the creative team behind the sequel. Not only that, WB is also positive about getting onboard with the idea of Justice League movie this time. Producer and story contributor Christopher Nolan is also expected to return on the sequel project, but perhaps in a consultant type function.  Deadline reports that Nolan will be involved with the Justice League film plotted for the future with Superman at the center.

Initially, when Zack Snyder asked about a Justice League movie, his response indicated that it should be further in the timeline of the Superman character. He said:
“I feel like you need to get Superman a little further down the road before you can do a Justice League movie.”

WB and DC need to establish its tentpole superheroes first. Let's hope that Man of Steel will indeed be the start of a new beginning for DC movies. We have yet to look forward to a better Green Lantern movie, a better Wonder Woman screen adaptation, and a sort of restart for Batman (because Nolan's Batman saga has closed, and did not fit the Justice League universe anyway).

We also found out via Deadline that David Goyer actually has a huge 3-picture deal he signed at Warner Bros for Man Of Steel, the sequel, and Justice League with Superman. If people like David Goyer is involved in the screenplay, we can have full confidence in the project. We should remember that Goyer was the man behind the screenplays that brought Blade to the silverscreen and brought glory to Batman when Nolan directed it to success.

Meanwhile, many of us wonder who will be Superman facing in the sequel. Would it be Bizarro? Parasite? Doomsday? My guess is that whoever it will be, in one way or another, the central nemesis in the center would have to be Lex Luthor. Share with us your thoughts in the comments below...
