Has the Star Wars Episode VII Storyline been Leaked?

Star Wars: Episode VII is one movie that people cant seem to wait reading about. But now, despite J.J. Abrams' style of secretive production tactics, story details have been leaking in the internet. And while we don't usually ride on "rumor" and unconfirmed news, the sources of these leaks have come from reliable sources such as renowned movie journalist Devin Faraci. FDCP launches Scriptwriting Contest for Genre Films

Calling all Philippine scriptwriters! The Film Development Council of the Philippines has now laid the groundwork for Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival for June 2014. The festival will focus on ‘genre’ filmmaking with 12 entries exploring the possibilities of an entire spectrum of cinematic types with vast domestic and global appeal. The genres included are confined to: action, comedy, fantasy, horror, thriller, futuristic and a hybrid of any two or three.

For the purpose of the festival, the limelight centers on all writers as a nationwide scriptwriting contest is hereby launched. A call for entries is made effective immediately, with winners to be announced on December 2013. [read the rest of the article after the jump]

Disney Acquires Rights to Larry Brenner’s Pitch, LABYRINTH

Walt Disney Pictures has obtained the rights to Labyrinth after a pitch from 2011’s Black List writer Larry Brenner.  The action-adventure film, produced by Jim Whitaker (American Gangster), tells the story of a mythical princess’ journey to save her father by trekking through the dangerous and elaborate labyrinth.  Sound familiar?  That’s because the premise is very similar to Jim Henson’s 1986 film by the same name, although there’s no relation.

Brenner is a newly discovered screenwriter who go his start after being a finalist on Final Draft’s Big Break Screenwriting Contest in 2011.  His screenplay for Bethlehem – a story about a group of survivors who makes a deal with a vampire in exchange for protection during a zombie apocalypse – landed him on The Black List that same year.  Universal Pictures later acquired the rights to the project and it’s currently in development.
