Bambanti Screens at the FDCP Cinematheque

This week, the FDCP Cinematheque screens the Brillante Mendoza produced, Zig M. Dulay written and directed film "Bambanti" which stars Alessandra de Rossi, Shamaine Buencamino, Micko Laurente, and Julio Diaz. It recently won the Best Indie Movie, Indie Director, Production Design, Child Performer, and Original Theme Song at the PMPC Star Awards, it also won the Best Film Award at the Brussels Film Festival, and its lead child star Micko Laurente the Best Actor at the International Children's Film Festival in India last November. The film will screen from March 22 and 23, 2016 (3:30 PM & 5:30 PM). FDCP Cinematheque Iloilo is located at the B & C Square Bldg., Iznart-Solis Sts., Iloilo City. CineKasimanwa Updates; Short Films Moved to FDCP and UPV Cinematheques, and The Red Carpet Opening

First off, is an important announcement; Due to unfortunate circumstances beyond the control of the organizers, all short films set for an SM Cinema screening have been cancelled since Monday. Auraeus Solito's 'Busong' is going to Cannes

A Pinoy film entitled Busong, directed by Auraeus Solito was chosen to be among the 21 feature films that will be shown during the Cannes' Directors Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival which will be held on May 11 to 22, 2011, in the resort town of Cannes, the south of France.

Festival director Frederic Boyer had this to say about the selection of the film:
"I am thinking about a film we found from Southern Philippines... that transcends the border between documentary and fiction. The film deals with animism and is very close to nature. It has been shot without any apparent wish to be selected in Cannes or to be picked by a co-producer."
