Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes' SONATA screens in Iloilo city

Art affects life and life affects art, as one of the best Filipino films in recent years will have a screening here in Iloilo once again, as Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes' "Sonata" will be shown at the FDCP Cinematheque from January 26 to February 1, 2015, with screenings scheduled 3:30 and 5:30 PM on the weekdays, and 1:30 and 3:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday. "Sonata" is the 2013 masterpiece from the cinema duo of Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes, written by Wanggo Gallaga, and stars Cherie Gil, Chino Jalandoni, Chart Motus, and Richard Gomez. "Sonata" is one of the finest Filipino masterpieces to come out in recent years. The story focuses on an opera diva, on the verge of a nervous breakdown after losing her voice, gives up the world, and returns home to Negros Occidental. And through a young boy, she rediscovers her art and life, and brings the world into her doorstep. As the world of the well-traveled opera diva collides with the world of a young boy in the throes of exploration, both discover the nature of art and the healing power of love.

It won the Gawad Urian Awards for Best Music (Emerzon Texon), Star Awards for Movies in 2014 for Indie Movie Production Designer of the Year (Emilio G. Montelibano Jr.), Indie Movie Musical Scorer of the Year (Emerzon Texon), Indie Movie Sound Engineer of the Year (Albert Michael Idioma), and many other various nominations.
