Idris Elba in talks to be Star Trek 3 Villain

Looks like we're getting our first real good news off the Star Trek 3 project. Idris Elba is in talks to play the Star Trek 3 villain, although there are no details on the role beyond saying he’s the film’s antagonist. This is awesome because Elba has indeed been proving lately how great of an actor he is, and we would like to see more of him, especially in strong characters in big genre films.
Star Trek 3 is set to open July 8, 2016.

Justin Lin set to direct Star Trek 3

As many of you already know, JJ Abrams is has been too busy with Star Wars and it was inevitable that he would leave the similarly humongous universe of the Star Trek movies to another director. For a while, producer/writer Roberto Orci (which had Abrams' blessing) was set to take over the helm of Star Trek 3. But there was a large backlash coming from fans who were against that idea (especially that Orci was partially the reason why the last Star Trek movie was bad). One of the big (and a really good choice, IMO) names for the directing job was Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). But now, Paramount has turned to Fast and Furious director Justin Lin to helm Star Trek 3 which is set for release July 8, 2016.

William Shatner to cameo on the latest Star Trek

James T. Kirk fans rejoice! Shatner is back in the Star Trek universe for a cameo role in the upcoming third "new" Star Trek movie series. Shatner's appearance in the rebooted franchise has long been talked about several times but have often been dismissed as rumors or unconfirmed, unfinalized plans. Now, plans have been clear that Shatner will indeed be onboard. And as Shatner himself tweeted on his twitter account: "I'm baaaaccckk!!!"
