The 2015 Gawad Urian Awards Nominees Roll Call

The nominees for the 38th Gawad Urian Awards have recently been announced. The nominees include Ilonggo Lav Diaz for the Best Director award for his work in "Mula sa Kung Ano Ang Noon", and fellow Ilonggo Tara Illenberger nominated for Best Editing for "The Janitor".

Jun Lana wins Best Foreign Film Director at Madrid for "Mga Kuwentong Barbero"

"Barber's Tales" also known as "Mga Kuwentong Barbero" has won Jun Lana the Best Director award at the 3rd Madrid International Film Festival. The film was also nominated in the Best Foreign Feature Film Award which was won by Keun-Hyun Cho's "Late Spring". Jun Robles Lana is also the director of the critically-acclaimed "Bwakaw". Eugene Domingo was also nominated as Best Actress in a Foreign Film Award, but also lost to "Late Spring's" Seo-Hyung Kim. "Mga Kuwentong Barbero" is a period film wherein Eugene Domingo plays a widower who takes over her late husband's barbershop at the onset of the Martial Law Period.
