Two Movies about Pablo Escobar are Coming

"Escobar", a biopic about the infamous drug kingpin Pablo Escobar is set to be made. This biopic will star Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz. Fernando Leon de Aranoa (A Perfect Day) will write and direct with filming expected to begin later this year. The story will be based on Virginia Vallejo’s 2008 best-selling Spanish-language memoir Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar. [hit the jump to continue]

This should not be confused with another Escobar movie set to be released this year, entitled "Escobar: Paradise Lost" which is written and directed by Andrea Di Stefano and will star Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Brady Corbet, and Benecio Del Toro as the Colombian drug lord.  The story of "Escobar: Paradise Lost" centers on the life of a surfer, who falls in love while visiting his brother in Colombia and finds out that the girl's uncle is Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.
